TO help find the true meaning of Christmas, Centralian
Advocate lifestyle reporter
Monika O’Hanlon went to
Gillen Primary School and
asked the people who really
know — the children.

For me, Christmas means
seeing all my family members. It also means getting
lots of presents and spending time with my family.
I’m hoping to get a laptop
from Santa because I’m on
the good list.
Grace Bramley, 7
I’m going to spend time
with my family, and seeing
my nanna and pop in Adelaide.
I hope I’m on the good list,
and I hope I get a toy train
that goes around and
around for my Christmas
present.
Caleb Taewa, 8
On Christmas I get to
have all my family with me,
I’m in the middle of the
naughty and nice list. I want
Kiannah Beattie
Grace McClintock
Jaycin McQueen-Bryers
to get a PS3 for Christmas.
Isaiah Campbell, 9 1/2
Christmas means I’m getting lots of good presents
and spending time with my
family. We have a special
lunch to celebrate. I would
say I am in the middle of the
naughty and nice list. I’m
hoping to get an action figure of the Lone Ranger.
Kiannah Beattie, 10
This time of year is when
you celebrate Christmas
with your family. It’s all
about having fun. I don’t
know what I’m getting for
Christmas, I think I’m on
the nice list.
Grace McClintock, 11
You get to spend time
with your family who live in
different parts of Australia
and fly in for Christmas. It’s
great because you get to
spend weeks with them.
Hopefully we’re going on a
trip to the Gold Coast after
Christmas. I’m on the nice
list.
Jaycin McQueen-Bryers,
11
Christmas means spending time with family. In our
family we have a tradition of
opening presents in the
morning. I don’t know
which list I’m on. Hopefully I
will get a trip to New Zealand to see my family for
Christmas.

Reason for season
GIFT giving and commercialism have become a permanent part of Christmas.
Christmas, however, is
all about God’s profound
gift to mankind.
The purpose of Christmas is summed up in one
simple verse of scripture:
‘‘For God so loved the
world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have
everlasting life.’’ (John
3:16 NKJV).
