Description My Sister’s House, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead the organization. The position of Executive Director has the responsibility for a full range of administrative and management functions to include the supervision of staff, the pursuit of various funding sources, and the implementation and support of a variety of programs to serve clients and the community. The program service area encompasses Nash and Edgecombe counties with a combined population of approximately 150,700. We seek a visionary leader with a passion for helping others. Experience in working in the nonprofit sector that values and sustains a strong public-private partnership and a high level of community engagement and impact would be ideal. The person we seek will have the ability to passionately articulate the mission and plans of the agency. A background in the successful development of constituent relations that result in major gifts, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships and other sources of philanthropic support will be a significant factor in candidate selection. Experience using traditional and untraditional fundraising techniques is expected. A leadership approach that is described as accessible, supportive and empowering must be demonstrated, but also balanced by strong decision-making and resultsoriented accountability. Strong networking and collaborative skills are a must. Essential Job Functions Fundraising – Includes planning and goal setting; growth of individual donor base; pursuit of government, foundation and corporate grants; capital campaign and event planning; and cultivating relationships with donors. Board Relations and Activities – Includes developing working relationship with the board; carry out board directives; assist in recruitment, selection and orientation of board members; and serve as liaison for board committees. Marketing and Public Relations – Includes development of marketing strategies for agency and to promote services; promotional and PR activities; public and private sector relations; serve as spokesperson for the agency; networking with community leadership; appropriate use of the traditional and social media; and development of agency publications. Financial Management – Includes budget development; monitoring of required financial functions; cash flow analysis; financial projections; payroll; financial reporting; and financial performance against plan. Staff and Administration – Includes staff management; overall staff growth and professional development; policy management; staff performance evaluation; staff communications; staff assignments and expectations; staff hiring; staff discipline; general knowledgeable of employment law; maintaining personnel files; and maintain positive environment that fosters team cooperation and respect. Facilities Management – Includes building maintenance; purchasing management (supplies); planning for long-term facility needs; monitoring accessibility and sanitation compliance; and risk management. Planning – Includes assisting with the development of strategic goals; progress toward long-term goals; achievement of short term goals; program planning; identification of community needs; and ability to set priorities. Program Management – Includes program development and evaluation; identifying and addressing community and client needs; volunteer recruitment, training and management; and staying current on best practices. Reporting – Includes contract compliance; grant compliance and reporting; and government reporting. Minimum Requirements (Experience, Education, Skill) Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services or related Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in management, with supervisory responsibilities. Experience with non-profit administration is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of public funding administration, grant administration, etc. required. Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and public speaking skills preferred. Must be able to demonstrate proficient computer skills with current technologies.
