MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Outreach to marginalized and diverse communities e.g. display booths, disseminate flyers and resources at community events; Provide staff support and assistance in the coordination of events and projects e.g. Summer Picnic, Back to School Drive, and Take Back the Night; Provide peer support counselling on SAVIS’s 24-hour crisis line; Drop-in and Closed Group curriculum planning and co-facilitation with two paid staff facilitators; Drop-in and Closed Group coordination support e.g. schedule guest speakers, set-up and clean up; Maintain necessary statistical records and reports. QUALIFICATIONS: A strong understanding of sexual violence from a feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression perspective; Successful completion of SAVIS front line volunteer training program; Theoretical knowledge and supervised practice facilitating groups or providing peer support counselling targeting women who have experienced violence; Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Demonstrated experience working with marginalized and diverse communities; Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; A second language other than English and French is an asset; Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset; Related experience or post secondary education.
