FACILITY MANAGEMENT

Professional development is key to managing the complex roles and responsibilities required of today’s facility managers. The George Mason University Facility Management Certificate Program provides you with the knowledge and strategies for success in the facility management industry through a comprehensive program designed to help you achieve your professional goals. The program is closely aligned with the core competencies resulting from IFMA’s

(International Facility Management Association) global task analysis. The comprehensive curriculum covers theory, methodology, technology and best practices related to facility management. You can earn a professional certificate from George Mason University and prepare for the IFMA Certified Facility Manager credential at the same time.

Sustainability has become an increasingly significant core concept for the building industry. Green initiatives and practices continue to play an important role in buildings and their management.

The noncredit Professional Certificate in Sustainability for Existing Buildings focuses on the importance of sustainability in the operation of existing buildings. This program is specifically focused on the principles of Sustainable Facility Management (SFM) and incorporates the key operational characteristics of building rating systems such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) EB for Operations and Maintenance.

Certificate courses are specifically designed to prepare participants for professional accreditation by U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as either LEED-GA (Green Associate) and LEED-AP (Accredited Professional).
