President’s Message
I hope you are all having a wonderful summer
and enjoying vacation time with your family
and friends! This year is moving so fast and
Christmas will be here before we know it.
Congratulations to Lorelei Kelley and her
fabulous team of “Santa’s Elves” for a very
successful Christmas in July and Bake Sale.
Santa rewarded us this year for being very
good “Elves”! The shop was beautifully
decorated and shoppers of all ages had
visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads
when they entered the shop!
As you know, our Spring Social “That Old Black Magic” on June 7th was
a huge success! Our Guild was honored to receive a special
commendation from the City of Burbank, which was presented by
Burbank City Mayor Bob Frutos, during the evening’s festivities. We
were recognized for our commitment to helping children battling
cancer and blood diseases, and for our dedication to progressive
treatment and care.

Upcoming Events
Our next event is our Summer Meeting, “Everything Old is New Again”,
which will be held on Saturday, September 12th at the beautiful
Oakmont Country Club. Tickets are $45.00 and Chairman Ann
O’Donnell Gardner and her fabulous team are encouraging everyone to
bring a friend or two. This is the event where your friends can get a
taste of what our Guild is all about.
The Summer Meeting is the time to think about inviting prospective
new members to consider joining our wonderful Guild. We also will
have an amazing fashion show, featuring our Thrift Shop fashions
modeled by our new Associate members. This year we are all being
asked to wear something that we have purchased at the Thrift Shop, so
how about going to the shop to buy a new outfit?

The next big event will be our “Razzle Dazzle” Fashion Show “Deck
The Halls” on Sunday, November 22nd at the lovely Sheraton Universal
Hotel. Nancy Johnson and her fantastic Committee are well on their
way to treating all of us to a special day filled with surprises! You will
have lots of opportunities to purchase beautiful holiday items and gifts
for those special people on your list. There will be many themed
baskets and silent auction items for you to bid on too! And just wait
until you see the beautiful lotto bracelets you can buy!
I wish all of you a happy August, full of rest and relaxation! I will look
forward to seeing all of you at the Summer Meeting on September 12th.

Santa Was Here...!
Thrift Shop News
Neither rain, nor thunder and certainly not
lightening, could keep the “ Christmas in July
and Bake Sale” from being a success . While the
weather kept some customers in, on July 18 we
still earned a spectacular $2,204.
Congratulations to Sharon Terranova, Patroness
Liaison, and the “Baking Elves” for all the
wonderful goodies they donated, adding an additional $802. 85!!!!!
Bringing the day’s total to $3,006.85.
With the Christmas decorations staying up until the end of the
month, as of July 28 we have garnered $6,075.81 from the annual
sale, plus the Bake Sale, bringing the total to a whopping
$6,878.66!
We had twice as much merchandise than we have ever had.
Thanks to the” Pricing Elves”, 51 bins of holiday goods were
brought to the Thrift Shop by Santa Ron Spang and his ” Merry
Group”, including Mark Sadusky , Brad
Welker, Chris Welker, Jake Kelley and
Anthony Ravelo. The Pricing Elves
outdid themselves and completed
marking the items in three, 4-hour days.
Wow! They worked hard, and had lots
of fun too!
Many willing Elves were awaiting
Santa’s arrival at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 17, ready to unload and
decorate the Shop. It looked like a daunting task, but as usual, the
Elves did their magic and the bins were emptied and the
merchandise beautifully displayed by 7:30 p.m. There were about
17 members who helped, too many to list here, but many thanks to
those of you who created our Holiday Wonderland.
Big kudos to our wonderful Monday Girl Elves who packed up our
regular merchandise to make way for Christmas in July. They also
made another smart decision to leave up the beautiful 12-foot table
that was donated to the Shop by Huntington Library. It made a
beautiful display area. They are so smart!
Another “ Christmas in July and Bake Sale” is over, and once again
it is difficult to really thank all the willing hands that gave of their
time to help make it a success for the children. So much dedication
is hard to imagine—but our members have it in bundles.

2015 68th Razzle Dazzle Fashion Show
Deck The Halls"
Make sure Sunday, November 22 is on your calendar! Tell your friends and family members to put the
date on their calendars! We will "Deck T he H alls" at the Sheraton Universal Hotel and raise money for
our project, the Associates Rehabilitation Center Caregiver Wing and the Associates Chair in Sarcoma at
Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
I will let you in on some of the details and planning underway: Carin Holmenas will produce a fabulous
Fashion Show for us. Just before the fashion show begins you will be treated to a medley of Holiday
musical tunes by a very talented young Burbank lady, Katie Trimble, accompanied by her friend, Alan
Chen, an accomplished violinist.
The Holiday theme will be carried out in gorgeous décor thanks to the extraordinary and creative talents
of DeeDee Rowlands and Donna Salant. Lynn White-Shelby, Donations Chairman, and her team of Clara
Monette, Silent Auction Chair, along with Patricia Taylor, Opportunity Baskets Chair, will have many
amazing donated items for you to bid on or have the opportunity to win. Vickie Margolin is making sure
each donor is thanked by sending gratitude notes.
Lotto Bracelets are BACK! Thanks to Deborah Spang and Sharon Terranova, Lotto Chairs, you have your
choice of bracelets with beautiful red and clear, green and clear and all clear crystal beads. You will want
to buy all three, or more! And they will make great gifts; cost is $20 each or three for $50. You can pick
your favorite number and have a chance to win Lotto dollars. The bracelets will be available for sale at
the Summer Meeting.
Nancy Wiggins has a variety of vendors, 11 as of this date, committed to be available for your shopping
pleasure. There will be something for everyone's personal taste!
Glenda Jones is chairman for the Opportunity tickets. And she will have a number of helpers selling the
tickets at the Fashion Show.
Laureen Endoso and Joe Terranova are selling ads for the event program. You will make their job easier
by submitting your own business ad or ask other businesses to submit their ads. Check with Laureen and
Joe for the ad costs and the form to use.
Thanks to all who are working both on the committee and "behind the scenes" to make this one of the very
best Fashion Show events ever! And my personal thanks to Joan Chandler, President, for asking me to

Dear Friend:
La Providencia Guild of Children's Hospital Los Angeles has been raising funds for over sixty years to
support the hospital's remarkable work in our community. In addition to operating our year-round Burbank
Thrift Shop, the Guild hosts two annual fundraisers . The largest is our Razzle Dazzle Fashion Show,
"DECK THE HALLS", which is being held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Sheraton Universal
Hotel. We expect over four hundred members and guests and req uest your support through a sponsorship,
cash donation, auction item(s) or purchasing an ad for our program.
Children's Hospital Los Angeles has been named the best children' s hospital in Californ ia and among the best
in the nation for clinical excellence. The Saban Research Jnstitute, one of the largest and most productive
pediatric research facilities in the United States, is located at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The hospital has
been affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California since 1932 and is
considered to be one of America' s premier teaching hospitals.
All profits will go to support our current project, the Associates Rehabilitation Center Caregiver Wing and the
Associates Sarcoma Program Chair. The Rehabilitation Medicine Program is a major pediatric referral center
for the most complex cases throughout Southern California and the United States. Custom designed treatment,
including physical, occupational, speech respiratory and psychological therapies are given to each patient
recovering from trauma or disease. The Associates Sarcoma Program within the Children's Center for Cancer
and Blood Diseases is working to improve tl1e outcome for children battling this aggressive form of childhood
cancer.
We hope you will contribute in some way to this event by helping us with our efforts on behalf of Children's
Hospital Los Angeles, an institution w ith a reputation for exemplary pediatric medical care and research.
Your support will assist us as we "DECK THE HALLS" for the benefit of children in need of medical treatment.
