About the St. David’s
Neal Kocurek Scholarships
“Going to college to pursue my dream
Dr. Neal Kocurek, the longtime President and CEO of St. David’s
Neal Kocurek Scholarship has allowed me
of becoming a doctor was a financial
impossibility for my family. The St. David’s
Foundation, was a visionary civic leader who understood our
to make my dream a reality. It has also
community and cared about its future. As part of Dr. Kocurek’s
opened a network of support from people
legacy, this memorial scholarship fund was established to take
his vision into the future by awarding college scholarships
to students in Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop and Caldwell
counties interested in pursuing health-related careers.
Since its inception, more than 285 students have received
Kocurek Scholarships to study medicine, nursing, physical
who truly believe in me and will help
me achieve my goals. Simply put, the Neal Kocurek Scholarship
has been one of the greatest blessings in my life, and it has truly
changed it.”
Jonaphine Rae Mata, 2012 scholarship recipient in her third year
at The University of Texas at Austin
therapy, biomedical engineering and other health-related
careers in Texas colleges and universities.
Toast of the Town is a fundraising drive for the St. David’s
Neal Kocurek Scholarship Fund, therefore, 100 percent of your
gift is used for students’ educations. St. David’s Foundation
Community Fund will match two-to-one all Toast of the Town

thrive for many years to come.
“If I could talk to the donors who
contributed to the Neal Kocurek
Scholarship, I would tell them that
whatever they gave in any amount or in
any form will never be forgotten. Not only
did the scholarship allow me to attend the
college of my dreams, it is now helping
me graduate from medical school with minimal debt. It is truly an
honor to be chosen and supported by a community that believes in
me and my journey towards medicine.”
