1. What type of faulty logic does Brutus use in his funeral speech?
2. Caesar’s last words are “Et tu, Brute’? – then fall Caesar.” What do Caesar’s
words mean? Explain why you think Caesar reacts this way when he sees
Brutus with the murderers.
3. The conspirators have made some mistakes along the way. What are they,
and how have they affected the events in the play?
4. What if Brutus and Cassius had refused to let Antony speak to the crowd?
5. Rhetoric is effective communication in writing or in speech. Compare the
speeches of Brutus and Antony at Caesar’s Funeral and decide what makes one
of them more effective than the other. Look for persuasive techniques such as
repetition, imagery, rhythm, diction(word choice), and emotional appeals.
