NJIT Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Platform Technology Engineering Laboratory Department Laboratory Faculty Mentor Position Research Area Summary Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Platform Technology Engineering Samuel C. Lieber, PhD, PE PhD Graduate Student The Platform Technology Engineering Laboratory will focus on applied research in Product Design, Advanced Manufacturing, and Engineering Education. The specific project currently of interest is in the area of Advanced Manufacturing Education. We will work closely with an industrial partner to develop and evaluate a training program in Advanced Manufacturing. This would involve the development of curriculum, pedagogy tools, and utilizing Industrial Engineering tools to evaluate the training’s effectiveness. The candidate will also assist in transferring Advanced Manufacturing pedagogy to academic programs including the newly reinstated Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MNET) Program at NJIT. Qualifications The candidate will have to have the minimum requirements for acceptance into the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering PhD program. The preferred candidate would have: A demonstrated interest in Advanced Manufacturing and Product design. A demonstrated interest in CAD/CAM and Applied Engineering. A demonstrated interest in Industrial Testing and Analysis. Experience/Interest utilizing analytical and control programming software. Hands on manufacturing experience. Good written and oral communication skills. Initiative and ability to work individually or in a team environment.
