Note from Patient: “Thank you so much for sharing your vast talent. Having your art in the
medical facility is so comforting and helps the patient remember that there is life after and outside the

Note from Patient: “My husband and I recently
spent a lot of time at Salem Hospital due to his back
surgery. We had a great experience at the hospital, and
particularly enjoyed the artwork. We fell in love with
your work. It is so beautiful, calming and distinctive.
What a great gift you have and what a gift you give to
others. There were some very stressful moments in the
past several days where I just happened to be seated
across from one of your paintings. The scene was so
tranquil and peaceful and reminiscent of the trails my
husband and I love to hike. It was a great to have that
beautiful scene — a moment of respite in a time of
turmoil. I hope you know that your work is providing
a blessing to many.”

Note from Administrator: “A large April Waters’ painting greets our patients, visitors and
staff in the Center for Outpatient Medicine. It sets the stage for a calm and healing environment
during what might be a stressful time for those visiting or working in the hospital. April’s use of

Opal Creek Waters
Oil on Canvas over Wood Panel (36 x 72 inches)
Collection of Collier Law, Salem
Note from Client: “We ultimately chose to commission a painting from April for the way her
paintings make us all feel. Some of our clients come to us in grief or anxiety. It is our intention to
create an environment that puts them at ease and brings them a sense of well-being, which mirrors
our professional goals as well. Our staff regularly comments on how wonderful it is to come to
work each day and see something so beautiful and stunning. April’s painting far exceeded any
hopes or expectations. It is a piece that renews us daily.”

through the natural world — capturing the interplay of color, light, motion
and depth in places of simple beauty or majestic repose.
April holds a BFA degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder and did
further study at the Art Center School of Design in Los Angeles, UCLA and
California State University, Fullerton. Her paintings have been featured in
numerous one person and group exhibitions over the past twenty years

included in public and private collections throughout the United States
including Oregon State University in Corvallis, Salem Hospital, Adventist
Medical Center in Portland, Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston and
