ApplyTexas Functional Changes for the 2016-2017 Application Cycle Posted: Modified: May 15, 2015 Changes to the ApplyTexas Profile Page Lengthened first and middle names: o Applicant first name and middle name will be 20 characters long Changes to the My Applications section in My Account Dual Credit/Early Admission: o 4 year applications (US and International Freshman): in the Start a New Blank Application/create a new application for admission section, the “Dual Credit/Early Admission” question text has been modified to “Are you completing this application to apply for dual credit classes or concurrent enrollment at this institution while still in high school?” o 2 year application: in the Start a New Blank Application/create a new application for admission section, the “Dual Credit/Early Admission” question text has been simplified to “Are you completing this application to apply for dual credit classes or concurrent enrollment at this institution while still in high school? ” Institution and application type selection: o 4 year applications (all application types): in the Start a New Blank Application/create a new application for admission section, the language has been changed to “Please select your target university or your graduate school of choice and your application type.” This change is already in place. Custom deadlines: o 4 year applications (all application types): if the institution has set up custom deadlines in the Executive Suite for a particular semester, then in the Start a New Blank Application/create a new application for admission section, the new deadlines will be added to the “Select a Semester” page. o 2 year application: if the institution has set up custom deadlines in the Executive Suite for a particular semester, then in the Start a New Blank Application/create a new application for admission section, the new deadlines will be added to the “Select a Semester” page. Changes to Shared Application Modules This section describes changes made to individual modules for the 2016-17 application cycle. Please note that many modules are shared among several application types. Biographical Information module (Included in all application types) The applicant first and middle name fields will be lengthened to 20 characters. Educational Background module (Included in all application types) On the previous college section, if the school is not found in school search, a country dropdown will appear so that the applicant may enter the country for a foreign school. Educational Information module US and International Freshman applications: “Pre-pharmacy” has been added as an option to the pre-professional program selection. Changes to the ApplyTexas Graduate Application Employment, Academic References & Honors: An “organization” field has been added to the academic references information. Changes to the ApplyTexas Administrative Site Executive menu All application types: Custom deadline names and dates may be added by semester and application type using the opt-in section in the “Change Deadlines, Fees, Messages & Essay Requirements” section. The descriptions of these new deadlines are now customizable, and those descriptions will display as well, replacing the old standard descriptions of “Early Decision,” “Early Action I,” and “Early Action II.” Administrative counts All application types: Added specificity to tables by breaking down the 4 year application totals into application type instead of just “Grad” and “Undergrad.” Now broken down by U.S. Freshman, U.S. Transfer, Readmit, Transient, Intl. Freshman, Intl. Transfer, U.S. Graduate, Intl. Graduate. Selecting optional modules This is not a change, just a reminder to check your settings for the inclusion of optional modules in your applications for 2016-2017 application semesters. Please see the document "Module Chart for 2016-2017ApplyTexas Applications" for a complete list. ApplyTexas administrators are able to select optional modules for the International Freshman, International Transfer, US Graduate, and International Graduate applications. This should be done for each semester before the application semester is signed off on and approved. To select the optional modules, administrators should go to Executive Menu > View and Change Fees, Deadlines, Essay Requirements and Display Messages and select the desired semester. At the bottom of the display for the International Freshman, International Transfer, US Graduate, and International Graduate applications, administrators will see a red star with a link reading, “NEW: Choose optional modules for (app type) application.” Administrators should click on the link to go to a page where they can select the optional modules they wish to include in the application type for that semester. Changes to the High School Counselors’ Suite Added a Test version of the Counselors’ Suite Can be viewed by anyone. Can be used for presentations or as an education tool. Additional Changes This document may be updated to include the following changes: Mandated changes to the application enacted by the Texas Legislature; Items approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and its ApplyTexas Advisory Committee on which the ApplyTexas technical team is still seeking clarification; Last-minute emergency changes requested by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and/or the ApplyTexas committee and agreed to by the ApplyTexas technical team. If this document is amended, ApplyTexas administrators will be notified at that time that a new version of this document is available on the ApplyTexas Administrative site.
