Our plane landed in Madrid and we drove to Segovia where we toured a castle that Christopher Columbus was commissioned in to discover the New World. Then we drove the 4 hour drive to Zegama, the town in which the Bonikowskys, who we would staying with, lived. Later that week we worked at the Aierdi farmhouse, played offertory at the church, met many new people and made new friends. God taught me that we don't have to be on a foreign mission field to serve Him, but that we can serve him wherever we are. Candace Mauck 8th Grade I went on the Junior High 3-day mission trip to Nashville. As a team, we helped prepare a previously flooded building so that it can later be used for offices and housing for other relief workers. We scrubbed the walls with bleach, scraped up tile, and helped organize the second floor. Joshua Dwire 9th Grade nashville 8 JUNE 28-30 , 2010 I had the privilege of going on the Nashville, TN, mission trip. The purpose of the trip was to help rebuild flood damaged buildings for Lighthouse Ministries. It was hard work: we tore up floors, bleached walls, swept rooms, and even cleaned up the outside of the buildings! We were able to fit some fun into these busy three days, too, like late-night soccer games and bowling. I can't wait for the next mission trip! Caleb Goodwin 8th Grade Photographs courtesy of Joshua Dwire and Pastor Shawn Kook July Field Trip: Federal Reserve Bank Photograph by the Maucks We had a great time at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Visitor’s Center and Monetary Museum on July 15, 2010. I learned that the first American bank was started in 1791, and that the $20 bill is the most counterfeited. I also learned how the Atlanta Fed counts, sorts, and stores money, and how they destroy old and worn bills. It was fascinating to see old coins, a stone from Yap, Japanese money trees, an old shekel, and even a widow’s mite! I enjoyed the field trip. It was awesome!
