Rutgers NetID: Your Key to Technology Services
Access to nearly all of Rutgers IT services requires the use of a unique network ID (NetID).
Many students are assigned their NetID when going through the enrollment pathway.
Students can manage their NetID, select other Rutgers IT services and manage email
addresses at netid.rutgers.edu. There are also tools to manage your password, update
your secret questions (used to help reset forgotten passwords), change your Rutgers email
address, and change where you would like your official Rutgers email delivered.
Rutgers Welcomes
RBHS Students!
Many IT services are currently in
transition for legacy UMDNJ students.

service upon the completion of NetID and services activation. ScarletApps also provides enhanced communication and collaboration tools, such
as Gmail, Drive, Google+, Calendar and others. Alumni can continue to use ScarletApps services forever, providing a lifelong link to the many
resources available to the Rutgers community. Access ScarletMail at scarletmail.rutgers.edu or via the myRutgers portal at my.rutgers.edu.
You can update your official Rutgers email address and settings at netid.rutgers.edu by clicking on “Manage Email Addresses”.

student campus email services on Eden, Pegasus and Clam as of July 1, 2014. No new email accounts will be created on these
systems after July 1, 2013. However, services currently supported by the campus systems will continue to be available after July
1, 2014. These services include shell access, programming languages / compilers, web site creation, and departmental / student
organization email services. All new students will be given access to the ScarletApps service by default. For additional information,

Computer Labs and Printing
OIT Computer Labs
Print Conservation at Rutgers
OIT oversees and operates 15 open access computer labs
on the Newark Campus. These facilities offer both Mac and
Windows systems equipped with a diverse selection of software
as well as scanners and high speed printers that have wireless
printing capabilities. These computing labs are staffed by trained
student consultants to provide assistance for your technological
needs.
Every January and July, $30 is posted to the printing account of
each Rutgers student. As a student prints a document, the account
is charged 4 cents per sheet of paper if the document is printed
on a black-and-white printer.
Documents printed on a
color printer are 25 cents per
sheet.
Our labs are located in the following buildings:
● Blumenthal Hall
● Bradley Hall ● Center for Law & Justice
● Conklin Hall
● Dana Library
● Englehard Hall
● Hill Hall
● Talbott Hall
● University Square
● Woodward Hall
Students who use up the $30 before the end of the six-month
allotment period will pay for additional printing with their RU
Express Card. To learn more, check print usage or add funds to
an RU Express Card, visit printing.rutgers.edu.
For more information regarding lab locations, hours, and more, please
visit our website at ncs.rutgers.edu/labs.
The computer labs at Rutgers have saved more than 62 million
sheets of paper during the first four years of the print conservation
program.

Online Courses and Collaboration
Online Course Management
Many instructors use the collaborative features of course management systems for more
than online courses. They supplement the classroom setting by providing course materials,
communicating with students, posting grades and organizing discussions.
Students may be asked to access Blackboard at blackboard.rutgers.edu, Sakai at
sakai.rutgers.edu, or Pearson eCollege at onlinelearning.rutgers.edu/ecollege as
part of course activities. The capabilities of each system vary but the basic concepts are
the same for each. Your instructor will provide details on how to access required course
materials on these systems.
Blackboard also provides online software training, blogs, wikis, journals, and much more.
For more information visit blackboard.rutgers.edu for details.

in student centers, most larger libraries, many dining halls,
residence hall common
areas and other locations.
For maps of coverage areas
and access instructions, visit
