UC Irvine guarantees two years of on-campus housing
to freshmen and one year to transfer students who are
single, under the age of 25, enrolling in fall quarter,
and who meet the housing application and contract
return deadlines.*

Complete the Online Housing Application and
pay the $20 non-refundable fee.
Students entering as freshmen must live on campus
for their entire first year to qualify for guaranteed
housing in the second year.
Most on-campus housing is assigned to students
who qualify for a housing guarantee, however, nonguaranteed students may apply and will be placed on
a housing wait-list.
Freshmen apply for the residence halls. Transfer
students apply for Arroyo Vista theme houses and oncampus apartments.
Students who are eligible service members, reservists,
or veterans are guaranteed an offer of on-campus
housing. Visit veteran.uci.edu for information.
Students 25 years of age or older or looking for family
housing may apply for Verano Place or Palo Verde
Apartments.
* Students admitted after the application deadline are not
eligible for the housing guarantee.

Costs for on-campus housing depend on the community, room/apartment type, contract length, and whether a meal plan is
included. Listed below are the total costs for on-campus communities open to freshman and transfer students. Housing costs for
2013-14 have not yet been determined.

Tours of the residence halls are offered
most weekdays at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30
p.m. and start at the Visitor Center in the
UCI Student Center. Check the calendar
at campustours.uci.edu for schedules.
MEAL Plans
UCI Dining offers a variety of meal
plan options to meet the needs of busy
students, whether they live on or off
campus. Dining commons are located
in the Mesa Court and Middle Earth
housing communities, and meal plans
are mandatory for residents living in
those communities. There are many
more retail dining options on campus.

Find Your Community
Middle Earth
UC IRVINE PROVIDES convenient, comfortable,
and secure undergraduate housing options, including
residence halls, academic theme houses, Greek
chapter and international houses, and apartments. All
student rooms are equipped with high speed Internet
and cable TV connections.
Each community offers specialized programming
to complement academic interests and residential
themes. Residents have access to community
study rooms, computer labs, card-operated
laundry facilities, recreational facilities, and live-on
professional and student staff. Details and photos

Residence Halls
Theme Houses
Mesa Court and Middle Earth are freshman
communities offering a wide range of theme halls
with live-in Resident Advisors. The First Year Initiative
(FYI) provides new students living in the residence
halls with the resources they need to make a smooth
transition to college and begin a successful career at
UC Irvine. FYI activities include:
Arroyo Vista offers a broad
range of theme houses organized around academic
interests, campus involvement, or Greek membership.
The community houses primarily sophomores, juniors,
and seniors. Membership in some houses is limited to
specific groups.
ƒƒ Academic support services: tutoring, group
study, academic advising.
Campus Village apartments are located in the
campus core and serve continuing undergraduates
and graduate students. Campus Village is currently
transitioning from undergraduate to graduate housing
over the next three years.
ƒƒ Credited classes held in the residence hall
communities.
ƒƒ Co-curricular activities that support a broad
range of interests.
Arroyo Vista
Transfer students may apply to most academic theme
houses including the International Village, where
students from the U.S. and abroad share cultures,
international perspectives, and friendship. Continuing
students may also apply to live in fraternity or sorority
chapter houses. Theme houses have 8, 12 or 16 furnished, double
occupancy rooms, a shared kitchen, and large living
and dining areas. Some houses offer a 2-room suite
with private bath for two students.
Mesa Court
Halls range in size from 48 to 75 students living in
single, double, and triple occupancy rooms. Each
community has its own dining commons. Meal plans
are required for students living in the residence halls.

Communities on the east side of campus: Vista del
Campo, Vista del Campo Norte, Camino del Sol,
and Puerta del Sol. Privately owned and managed,
they serve primarily sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
All apartments on the east campus are furnished and
offer individual 12-month leases. More information

Transfer students who prefer apartment style
housing may consider one of the American Campus
Family Housing
Verano Place and Palo Verde are graduate and
family housing communities serving full-time graduate
students and undergraduates who are 25 years of
age or older, married, in a domestic partnership, or
single parents living with their children. Verano Place
and Palo Verde offer annual leases for one-, two-, and
three-bedroom unfurnished apartments.
Off-Campus Housing
The Anteater Housing Network allows students to
search off-campus listings and look for a roommate.
The Living Around UCI guide provides useful
