Campo Salisbury Center 718 The Plain Road Westbury, NY MIDTERM/REGENTS SCHEDULES Monday, January 24th—Friday, January 28th This year’s Midterms and New York State Regent’s examinations are scheduled for Monday, January 24th through Friday, January 28th. There will be a separate mailing regarding the Midterm and Regents exam schedule. Please review exams, dates and times. No classes will be held this week, therefore, you only come to school on your scheduled exam times. The cafeterias will not be serving food during Midterm/Regents Week. Please note that the Spring Semester begins on Monday, January 31st. Students who are taking new half year courses will begin these courses this day. (Full year classes will obviously continue as they were in the Fall). **************************************************************** Important Cell Phone Rules in Effect for Regents/Midterm Week Students who are found to have a cell phone in any examination room may be assigned a zero for the midterm or have their Regents exam voided. Monday, February 7 Report Cards Mailed Students will not be allowed to bring a cell phone into school during Regents/ Midterm Week. EMHS will not collect, check-in, and check-out cell phones during any examination period. Phones in the Main Office will be available for students who need to contact their parents for any reason. Tuesday, February 8—EMHS Winter Concert Part 3 7:30 p.m. The school will not take responsibility for holding these items. Volume 2, Issue 5 Page 2 EMHS Band Performs in Disney! T he East Meadow High School Marching Band made up of one hundred and seventy-four students will be traveling to Disney World in Orlando, Florida from February 11th through February 14th. The band has been selected to perform in the Main Street Electrical Pre-Parade on Saturday Evening, February 12th. The band will also be participating in “You’re Instrumental”, a Disney Performing Arts Workshop. The Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Joel Levy, Mr. Stephen Engle, Mr. David Fletcher and Mr. Chris Hale. The Colorguard instructor is Ms. Monica Deckel. EMHS CHEERLEADERS HEAD TO ORLANDO **8th—9th grade** Parent Orientation for Incoming 9th grade students Thursday, January 27th 7:00 p.m. T he East Meadow High School varsity cheerleading team, under the direction of Coach Tara Reilly, will be participating in the National High School Cheerleading Championship February 12th—14th in Orlando, Florida. The team qualified for this event at the Empire Regional Championship at Hofstra University on December 4th. The girls will be competing in the medium varsity division have been participating in competition on Long Island this winter in preparation for this championship. and MODEL CONGRESS AND A.P. EUROPEAN HISTORY TOUR EUROPE T he Model Congress and A.P. European History classes of East Meadow High School are planning an exciting event for this year’s winter recess. They have arranged a trip to Rome, Italy, under the guidance of Mrs. Elizabeth Mc Laughlin. The week long schedule will encompass five sightseeing tours of Rome, Siena, Florence, Pisa and the French Riviera. In addition, the students will visit the Vatican Museum, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, Pantheon, Duome in Florence, Cathedral and Baptistry of Pisa, and country of Monaco. Thirty-nine students, and six teachers will be enjoying this wonderful experience. Remember: Report Cards will be printed and mailed on Monday, February 7th
