This memento of a bygone era was edged with lovely pale pink roses and must have been very special to her to have survived 100 years. Looking at the card, I was also reminded of the seven sisters rosebush in my mother’s garden and the heady fragrance of the wild roses that grew by the mailbox. I wanted to bring the past and the present together in a representative way, so I combined the Victorian style of the card, its cream background, and rose motif with a crewel-work embroidery look in the leaves, buds, and stems. Stitched in flat even-count peyote stitch (Online Beading Basics) using 110 cylinder beads, this bracelet measures 71⁄4 x 11⁄4 in. (18.4 x 3.2 cm) not including the clasp.
