The Psychology major requires 39 hours of Psychology coursework, a minor or 2 major, the University General Education requirements, and
demonstrated proficiency in a foreign language at the 1202 level. A minimum of 120 earned hours are required for the degree. Psychology course
work in five areas is required, Research Methods/Critical Thinking Skills (12 Hours) plus Gen Ed Science, Knowledge Base (12 Hours), Application of
Psychology (6 hours), Psychology Electives (6 hours), and a Capstone course (3 hours).
Research Methods/Critical Thinking Skills 3 PSYC courses, 1 Statistics course
1101 General Psychology (PS4002 Foundations of Psych) A grade of C or better for PSYC 1101, 2101, 2103 &
Statistics 1220, 1221, or 1222 (1222 preferred)
STATS within 2 attempts is needed to continue in the
2101 Research Methods I
major.
2103 Research Methods II
General PSYC Lab is NOT used for the PSYC major.
Science Requirement (Only courses listed for Gen. Ed. Natural Science may be used.)
2 Natural Science courses outside Psychology (one with a lab) with a grade of C or better.
General Psychology and/or General Psychology lab may not be used to fulfill the science requirement.
The 2 Science courses, Science Lab, and the Statistics course will be included in the Psychology GPA.
