Zoology 2100 Spring 2016
Human Anatomy Cadaver lab
•
NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR RECORDINGS OF ANY KIND in the cadaver lab,
o This includes taking photos of whiteboard notes or schedules,
o No friends, family members in the Cadaver lab unless they are currently registered for
the course.
 The use of cadavers is a privilege, NOT a right; do not abuse this privilege.
•
No phone calls, MP3/music players/earphones/earpieces during quizzes or exams. These
devices will be considered cheating,
o Cheating (copying off someone else, using outside sources etc.) will be subject to
academic discipline and University sanctions. These sanctions will stay on your
academic record and be visible by professional programs for years and will severely
influence your future school and job prospects. Cheating is an academic criminal
record and is not worth the risk.
•
You are required to attend the lab you have registered for. Each lab has a specific roster of
students and only those students will have their grades recorded,
o In case of emergency, you are required to contact your laboratory instructors, who will
then arrange a time or alternate lab for you to take the quiz/exam and receive pertinent
anatomic instruction. You cannot simply show up without contacting your laboratory
instructors,
o Do not game the system and our generosity by claiming weekly emergencies in order to
attend a more convenient laboratory. You will only be permitted one “alternate” lab
during the semester barring unforeseen emergencies. Work is not considered an
emergency (see below),
•
If you are currently pregnant, are planning to become pregnant or become pregnant during the
semester, you are strongly recommended to consult with your physician before continuing with
this course,
o You will be exposed to human cadavers that have been embalmed and are constantly
sprayed with fluids and chemicals that are contraindicated for proper fetal development
and generally not worth the risk to your unborn child,
•
Each quiz is worth 12 points with 8 points based on the prescribed lab manual chapters for the
current week (completing the prescribed chapters, including pre-lab for the material that you
will be learning that week is adequate preparation) and 4 points based on the material from the
previous week.
o Only your top 8 quiz scores will be applied towards your overall grade. Your lowest of
the 9 laboratory quizzes will be dropped from your record,
o You cannot make up lab quizzes without your lab instructor approval,
Lab point breakdown is as follows: 8 x 12-point quizzes = 96 points
3 x 100-point lab exams = 300 points
Total Lab component = 396 points
The following schedule is a map to the lab chapters; be sure to evaluate each week as you prepare for
lab. Tables and Figures are included in Exercises.
