UC-BCF HRM ranked with top
culinary schools in the country
After the recent culinary showdown last month, news had fast spread among award-winning Hotel and Restaurant Management in Manila that a Baguio-based HRM school can
be at par in national culinary competitions.
During the “6th
Baguio Tossed Salad
Festival- A Culinary
Showdown” at the
Baguio
Convention
Center last November
18, the University of
the Cordilleras College of Hotel, Restaurant Management
and Tourism (HRMT)
won 3rd place in the
“3 Course Entry Competition” . The first
and second place was
taken by well-known
Manila-based culinary
schools in the country.

CHED opens
scholarship for
MIT at UC
Information
Technology college instructors
throughout
Northern Luzon have
a chance to finish their
Masteral or Doctoral
Degree in Baguio City
under scholarship of the
Commission on Higher
Education (CHED).
This
was
announced by Dean Nancy
Flores of the College of
Information and Computing Sciences of the
University of the Cordilleras (UC-CICS) after
receiving the go signal
to resume the scholarship program this third
trimester this January
for the fourth batch.
Enrollment starts January 1O, 2007.
The
University
of the Cordilleras has
been identified as the
only school north of
Manila accredited by
CHED under its Faculty
Development Program
for Master in Information Technology (MIT).
The FDP is a
component of CHED’s
Higher Education Development Project that
aims to upgrade the
academic qualifications
of tertiary level faculty
members to master and
doctorate degree levels.
Scholars benefit from
free tuition and school
fees, monthly stipend
amounting from P4,000
for part-time scholars
to P8,000 for full-time
scholars, transportation
allowance, book allowance and substitute assistance.
UC’s MIT is a nonthesis program that
may be completed in 6
trimesters for full-time
scholars or 7 trimesters
for part-time scholars.
The program started in
January 2006 with the
first batch consisting of
14 students; currently,
UC holds the record of
the Delivering HEI for
having the most number
of scholars under the
CHED-FDP with faculty
scholars coming from as
far as Region 4.
CLOSE EXAMINATION. During the UC-College
of Engineering and Architecture exhibit last
December 8, a student appreciates the scale
model which won in the 2005 Camp John Hay
Master Development Plan Architectural Design Contest where UC was grandslam winner
bagging first, second and third place.
KEEPING THE FLAME ALIVE. While teammates and UC schoolmates Eduard Folayang & Mark Ediva are competing in the 2006
Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, 3-time World Wushu Champion Benjie Rivera leads other Baguio athletes in the Friendship Torch Run
launching the 1000 days Countdown to Baguio Centennial Day on
September 1, 2009.
