In order to check if .NET3.5 SP1 is installed on your system, please download, unzip and run this small application. If the application tells you that .Net 3/5 SP1 is installed, please proceed below, If the application tells you that .Net 3/5 SP1 is not installed, please go to .NET3.5SP1 and install the “Full” package. Open the screen shot below for specific location of the download file on the Microsoft .NET page. SBW will not install without .NET 3.5 SP1. Microsoft dot net.jpg Before Installing SBW for Windows TM Shut down SBW and Update Manager Install Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 (see above) Exit SBW – Configurator and Quoter Save Proxy settings, if applicable Right click on Update Manager icon and select Preferences Click on Update Manager Options tab on pop-up window copy Proxy server and Proxy port settings for later use. Click Cancel to exit preferences window Page 5 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 Exit Update Manager by right clicking on the icon bar and selecting exit Right Click Then Exit Install SBW for Windows TM Logon to your Partner Portal and navigate to SBW R18 on the menu located on the left side of the page Scroll down and select SBW 18.0 Download: to initiate the installation Save the file to your disk (make a note of the saved location) After saving, double-click on the file you saved: o SBWQB.exe (Configurator and Quoter version) Click “OK” when temporary installation files screen appears: (It’s recommended you keep the default location) Users with SBW previous version installed: A warning message indicating that an upgrade will perform, click “Yes” In the Installation Wizard, ensure you have R18P0B0 or higher, ensure “retain current user data” is selected, and click “Next” Read and accept the License Agreement and click “Next” Enter your Partner Portal Credentials and click “Next”: o Username o Password o Region o KB Type Add your email address in both fields and click “Next” Select the User Interface of your choice and click “Install”: o Advanced UI (default) o Simple UI Ensure the “check for updates now” is selected and click “Finish” when installation is complete Update Manager will open automatically (Note: Update Manager is required for the complete SBW R18 package, including application updates such as problem resolutions and performance enhancements) In the “Ready to check for updates” screen, click “Next” After the system check for updates, you will be presented with numerous updates. Select all and click “Download” After the download and installation of the KB and other files, a screen will appear with a message “Welcome to the Update wizard for SBWQB 18.0”. Click “Next” After receiving message “Software update successfully installed”, click “Close” When the installation complete window appears, click “Close” again You can then start SBW by selecting Start > Programs > HP Business Tools > SBW Page 6 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 Section 3: Detailed Installation of SBW for Windows TM Warning: SBW R18 requires Microsoft’s .NET 3.5 SP1 to run. In order to check if .NET3.5 SP1 is installed on your system, please download, unzip and run this small application. If the application tells you that .Net 3/5 SP1 is installed, please proceed below, If the application tells you that .Net 3/5 SP1 is not installed, please go to .NET3.5SP1 and install the “Full” package. Open the screen shot below for specific location of the download file on the Microsoft .NET page. SBW will not install without .NET 3.5 SP1. Microsoft dot net.jpg Install SBW for Windows TM Login & User Registration Request login and register through your regional portal such as PWEB, COL, APPOL Navigate to SBW18.0 and continue with the steps below: Page 7 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 SBW Installation You will be prompted to an installation page (see below): Download SBW 18.0 (SBW 18.0 Download or SBW 18.0 Recoverable Download) Save the downloaded file to your hard drive (note location stored) o File name: configurator and quoter (SBWQB.exe) Open the downloaded file by double-clicking on it. You’ll be asked to define the location where you’d like to save the temporary installation files. NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you choose the default location suggested by the application install. Click “Next” to continue Users with SBW previous version installed: A warning message indicating that an upgrade will perform, click “Yes” Page 8 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 After downloading and launching the application installation package you will be guided through the following prompts, ensure the “retain current user data’ is selected for those users who have had a previous version of SBW installed, and click “Next” Read and accept the terms of the license agreement and click “Next” Page 9 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 Enter the following information based on your Partner Portal credentials: o Username o Password o Region Note that the “Americas” selection for region covers North America. For Latin America, choose the LAR entry. o KB Type Full KB – Only choose this option if you know you need to support Visio exports and/or solution templates. This full KB is approximately 50MB in size and will take longer to download. You can always change this selection at a later date. LoCal KB – (Recommended) This KB does not include Visio stencils or solution templates, and is only 30MB in size. Use this KB unless you know you need the contents of the full KB. You can always change this selection at a later date. After entering the information in the wizard as shown below, click “Next” Enter your email address. This step is highly recommended and will only be used by Page 10 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 the HP SBW Support Team to notify you of any upgrades and urgent support issues: Choose between the Advanced UI and the Simple UI. If you are unsure which is right for you, accept the default. You can always switch to the other UI type at a later date. Click “Next” Page 11 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 The Install shield will now install the application When the application finishes the installation, ensure the “check for Updates now” is selected, and click “Finish” Page 12 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 Update Manager will start immediately after you click on Finish. You need to go through the process of downloading your data files before you can run SBW. Do not close this dialog. Click Next. The next step (see image below) may take up to several minutes. Please be patient. The Update Manager has to work through the versions of all the data files needed on your system. Once it has a compiled a list of available updates, you will be presented with the list. You must accept all updates during this initial session. SBW will not function without these files. By default, Update Manager will download and install all the files in one step. If you prefer, you can uncheck the checkbox and install the data files as a separate step after the download completes. Click on “Download” Update manager will download and install all your data files. Depending on your network performance, this may take some time. If the KB download is taking too long, you may want to visit the Update Manager Best Practices section of this guide Page 14 of 20 SBW TM Installation Guide for Channel Partners & External Users September 2009 After the download and installation of the KB and other files, a screen will appear with a message “Welcome to the Update wizard for SBWQB 18.0”. Right click on the Update manager icon in your system try and select Preferences: In the preferences you can change the KB Type and User Credentials. Purchase Agreement and Price Books can not be added or edited through this interface and are used for informational purposes only. These data files are available and controlled by the Partner Portal. Note: It is imperative that you run SBW at least once from the start-up window before trying to open a whiteboard.
