JCBA started in 1985 as one of the first California Partnership Academies. Our program offers students the opportunity to take their core curriculum and learn business basics in a family atmosphere. Students also have the opportunity to participate in internships, college visits and job shadows. Currently 8 of the top 20 seniors at Hiram W. Johnson High School are JCBA students! OUR MISSION: Former JCBA students are currently attending Sac State, UC Davis, Cal Berkley, UCLA , & UOP among others In cooperation with business partners, community agencies, educational institutions and student’s families, JCBA will provide learning experiences for all students that will result in access to the post secondary program of their choice and the foundational skills for lifelong careers. OUR VISION: JCBA Students will acquire the knowledge and skills required to obtain their life aspirations of education and/or career while reflecting the best in service and ethical conduct required for a productive adult life. Potential Career Pathways Business Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Entrepreneur, Banking, Marketing, Retail Sales Extra-Curricular Opportunities with JCBA VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) JCBA students have the opportunity to learn how to prepare tax forms through the VITA program. Our students learn to utilize IRS software and gain certification by the IRS for tax form preparation. Students then volunteer their time preparing tax forms for fellow students, staff and the community under the supervision of staff members and IRS employees. Student Store: Our students gain valuable business experience by operating the Hiram W. Johnson High School student store. This includes ordering merchandise, stocking, and sales. Students gain the skills needed for operating a small business. SAGE (Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship) This program has students create a business plan and then put their plan into operation . They take their results to a national competition where they compete against other high school students from other parts of the country. This year’s competition will be in San Francisco.
