Cheung Kong Group Named One of
Community Chest’s Top Three Donors for 11th Consecutive Year
Five Group Members Received Individual Recognition
(21 June, 2010 – Hong Kong) – The Cheung Kong Group was named “Third Top Donor
of the Year” at The Community Chest 2009/2010 Annual Presentation of Awards today,
maintaining its mantle as a Top Three Donor for the 11th consecutive year. This accolade
clearly reflects the Cheung Kong Group’s longstanding support and commitment to The
Community Chest.
An award was presented by Mrs Selina Tsang, President of The Community Chest, to Mr
Edmond Ip, Deputy Managing Director of Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited, who
represented the Group at the awards presentation ceremony (see photo 1).
In addition, five members of the Cheung Kong Group received individual recognition for
their contributions to The Community Chest. Hutchison Whampoa Limited and
Hongkong Electric Holdings Limited were presented with the President’s Award;
Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited and Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited
were presented with the Award of Distinction; and A.S. Watson & Co., Limited was
presented with the Award of Merit. (see photo 2).
The Cheung Kong Group has been backing The Community Chest for years not only by
making donations, but also by appealing to the public for their contributions. A donation
hotline was launched by the Group this year to raise money for The Community Chest’s
“Cheung Kong” Rainbow Fund. All contributions made through the hotline by the public
were matched dollar-for-dollar by the Cheung Kong Group. During the year, members of
the Group participated in a number of fund-raising campaigns organised by The
Community Chest, including Corporate and Employee Contribution Programme, Walk
for Millions, Dress Special Day, The Community Chest Green Day and Laisee for The
Chest.
