NOTES FOR PSYCHOLOGY AND CORE REQUIREMENTS:
1Teacher
Licensure students are advised to take PSYC-208, Applied Developmental Psychology, to fulfill state licensure
requirements. Psychology majors who are not pursuing teacher licensure may take PSYC208 in lieu of PSYC210
with advisor approval.
2Upper division psychology elective courses are listed in the current college catalog, along with their specific
prerequisites. Students may use only one Directed Study psychology course (PSYC391, PSYC470, PSYC496,
PSYC500) to fulfill the upper level psychology elective requirement in the major. Additional Directed Study
courses may be used as electives toward general graduation requirements.
3Registration for PSYC550, Senior Thesis, is by special arrangement with a faculty member. It requires completion of a
formal thesis on a significant topic in psychology. Intended for senior psychology majors, a literature review
and proposal, along with approval of two members of the psychology faculty, is required prior to enrollment in
the thesis course. See your advisor for further information.
4BIOL150, Foundations of Biology and the accompanying lab, are required of all Psychology majors. This course also
fulfills the Tier II Science and Technology lab requirement of the Core Curriculum.
5Psychology courses carrying CCSS credit may not be used to meet both Department and Core requirements.
