SWICA
The Southwest Insulation Contractors Association is comprised of industrial/commercial insulation and
abatement contractors and suppliers throughout the southwestern United States. The regional
association has both large and small contractors as well as the leading suppliers to the mechanical
insulation and abatement industries.
Through meetings, publications and videos SWICA provides information on many items of interest to its
membership including personnel surveys, a litigation updates, new products, business management,
technical matters, existing laws, and pending legislation. SWICA is the only association providing specific
information to all industrial/commercial contractors in your area.
MEETINGS
Each year, SWICA sponsors an annual educational conference for all members. The two and a half day
session features in-depth programming specifically geared to our industry. It also provides the forum for
the industry to meet and get better acquainted through social events. Member registration fees are
substantially less than those for non-members.

BI-ANNUAL TRADE EXPOSITION
The SWICA EXPO is the only event of its type planned especially for the commercial-industrial insulation
and abatement industry in one of the nation’s largest insulation markets—the Gulf Coast and Southwest.
The SWICA EXPO March 14, 2017 will allow you to reach more insulation industry buying, specifying,
and user influences in one day at the SWICA EXPO than your entire sales force is likely to see in a
month. And, you can contact these prospects at a small fraction of the cost of a typical sales call.
BYRON SADLER CRAFT COMPETITION
SWICA will run rigid, removable insulation and commercial craft competitions concurrent with the biannual
EXPO. As an organization SWICA took on this enormous task and built their pipe models and
orchestrated this all day event promoting skills assessments and performance evaluations. The craft
education committee members are endless in their dedication to produce this popular competition
between contractor firms. Each puts for their best person to capture the annual event traveling trophy.

PUBLICATIONS, VIDEOS AND WORKPLACE ISSUES
Each member receives periodic bulletins on legislation, regulations, and business information which is of
specific interest to your business and industry. In addition, SWICA publishes a newsletter six times a
year which keeps you informed of pertinent facts affecting the Southwest area and reporting on member
and association activities. The “Benefits of Mechanical Insulation“ video is available to you to use or
rebrand. It is on YouTube and has been rebranded in Europe and by many member firms. The SWICA
“Next Step Committee” is reaching out to vocational schools and students to introduce them to the
insulation industry as a career choice.
LIAISON
As a member of SWICA, you are informed of activities of other important trade organizations and the
National Insulation Association (NIA) where SWICA has a Board of Director representation for the SWICA
region.
SWICA NEXT STEP COMMITTEE
Initiated in 2013, SWICA members have joined to evaluate and implement youth introduction to the
insulation workforce. Working with local high school and vocational colleges in trade fairs and consultant
endeavors to promote the future of insulators in our industry.

Coatings Industries.
Through the support and commitment of our members SWICA has become the premier regional trade
association working for the good and common interests of our industry. By supporting your fellow SWICA
members, you are ensuring the continued success of our association.
SWICA strives to provide a wealth of value to its members and the industry as a whole from the
networking opportunities to tackling tough issues that affect all our businesses.
I encourage all to utilize the Benefits of Mechanical Insulation You-Tube Video in your sales and training
opportunities to help raise awareness of these benefits and spur further discussion.
We are currently working with our members and the area schools to help inform and attract today’s youth
to pursue a career in our industry. We see a severe shortage of labor in the coming years and compete
with many other crafts for skilled and semi-skilled labor. Our bi-Annual Expo and Craft Competition is a
great opportunity for career guidance professionals to gain a greater understanding of the careers
available in our industry and we are augmenting this by participating in many other events though out
member states. I would encourage all to become involved.

Join SWICA
Southwest Insulation Contractors Association is comprised of industrial and commercial
insulation and asbestos abatement contractors and their product manufacturers, distributors and
suppliers throughout the southwestern United States. Specifically, Arkansas, Louisiana,
Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. Through professionally managed meetings, seminars,
expositions, directories and publications, SWICA provides members pertinent data and a valued
industry network.
The concept of association can be summed up in the three words; "People Working
Together". The collective intelligence and voice of a group is greater than that of one company
or individual. Unity of purpose and unity of action through associations will strengthen an
industry and its members more than any amount of individual effort. The insulation industry
faces ever changing regulations unique not only to this market segment, but to this gulf coast
region. The pooling of ideas and sharing of information is an antidote to complacency and
inadequacy in this arena.
When people unite to work for common interests, the attitude of "What's in it for me?"
becomes "What can I do to help?". The result is respect and admiration and a better sense of
purpose throughout the industry.
