University.

Relations (OIR) to help me find a housing accommodation.
Upon your arrival OIR will house you temporarily in an on-campus housing where
you may stay up to one week for a fee between P 600 to 1000/night until you find
an off-campus apartment/condominium. OIR will also provide you with a list of
possible off-campus housing options.

VISA MATTERS AND SPECIAL STUDY PERMIT
International exchange students at the Ateneo de Manila University are advised to use a tourist
visa together with a Special Study Permit (SSP) throughout the duration of the exchange
program at Ateneo de Manila University. While maintaining a tourist visa which will be renewed
every two months, international students will apply for a SSP which allows them to study nondegree courses in the Philippines for a period not exceeding one year
TOURIST VISA AND SPECIAL STUDY PERMIT
Step 1
Secure an entry visa. Secure a 59-day tourist visa at the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate in your
country of origin before entering the Philippines.
Step 2
Application for SSP. The next step is to apply for a SSP. The application form will be given to
you by the OIR upon your arrival. Please bring your passport and a 2 inch x 2 inch recently
taken photo for the application. The liaison officer of OIR will go to the Bureau of Immigration
to apply for the SSP on your behalf. The SSP application fee is P 4,740.00 plus a notarial fee of
P 300.00 for a total of P 5,040.00.
The application of SSP will also include the compulsory application of an ACR I Card (Alien
Certificate of Registration Card) worth P 2,900.00.
Step 3
Extension of tourist visa every two months. 14 days before your tourist visa expires, please
proceed to OIR to renew your tourist visa which can be extended either for 30 days
(minimum),or 59 days (maximum) . Please respect the 14 days lead period in order to give OIR
ample time to renew your tourist visa.

Allowable number of units
Exchange students are allowed to take a minimum of 12 units
and a maximum of 18 units. Most subjects have 3
(American) credits or 6 ECTS.
Courses restrictions
Undergraduate exchange students are NOT allowed to take
graduate-level courses.
However, graduate exchange students are allowed to take
undergraduate-level courses.
Credit and Grading System
One subject usually has a 3-credit unit. One unit of credit is
equal to one hour lecture or two to four hours of laboratory
per week for the period of a complete semester.

Transcript of records (TOR) will be available a month after the
exchange period. One (1) original copy of the student’s
official TOR will be sent to the student’s home university
through express airmail. Scanned copy of TOR will be sent to
student’s and university coordinator’s e-mail.
Students who request for extra copies of their TOR can do so
by paying additional fees, such request should be e-mailed
directly to registrar@admu.edu.ph
Students who need preparatory courses in English may join
the Intensive English Language Program (130 hrs) offered by
Ateneo Language Learning Center (ALLC) for a fee of
US$ 600/module.

Visa Information and Special Study Permit
Visa and Special Study Permit (SSP) International exchange students are advised to secure a 59Information
day visitor’s visa in their country of origin. This visa will be
extended every 30 or 59 days upon arrival in Manila with a
special assistance from the OIR.
Moreover, international exchange students are REQUIRED to
secure a Special Study Permit (SSP) for the duration of the
exchange program at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Students who fail to secure an SSP will not be allowed to
register.

Airport arrival pick-up service
An arrival guide with maps will be sent in a separate sheet.
If students wish to be picked up at the Ninoy Aquino
International Airport (NAIA), OIR will book a vehicle with a
car rental company which will bring them to their chosen
accommodation or temporary housing.
