Jon Sharp is President and Chief Executive Officer
of Engine Lease Finance Corporation which he
founded in 1989.
ELFC is the world’s largest non-OEM aero-engine
leasing company. Jon was Head of Marketing
and Commercial of Rolls-Royce’s aero-engine
Repair and Overhaul Business worldwide and
was subsequently Managing Director of a major
airframe and component maintenance company;
he has served as a non-executive director on the
Boards of Aerothrust Corporation in Miami and
Aviation Industry Press in London.
In September 2004, Mr. Sharp was presented by
the Institute of Transport Management its Lifetime
Achievement Award to “Honour his outstanding
contribution to the air transport industry”. In
February 2010 Mr. Sharp was made a Fellow of the
Royal Aeronautical Society.
This workshop, hosted by IBA and featuring speakers from their Asset Management, Technical and Consulting teams, will introduce and discuss engine maintenance costs and reserves
and offer attendees the opportunity to debate the issues at hand and take-away vital information surrounding optimising planning workscopes and engine maintenance systems.
The workshop will present attendees with a unique opportunity to understand the sources
of engine maintenance requirements and the numerous external factors that can influence
this process and will:
• Investigate workscope planning guides
• Review the role of the OEM in maintenance requirements
• Analyse legacy verses LCC policies and the risks and rewards
• How to manage shop visits, redeliveries and maintenance reserves effectively
• Examine engine build options – use of PMA and DER - residual/lessor/financier concerns
• Delve into external factors that impact costs such as harsh environments and engine de-rate

Philip Seymour, President and Chief Operating Officer, IBA Group Limited
Phil has close to 40 years’ experience working within Airline, Aircraft Maintenance, Aircraft and Engine Leasing
and Consultancy businesses. Starting his career with BA in 1976 – Phil completed UK CAA aircraft maintenance
engineer’s courses, ONC, HND and a Diploma in Management Studies, before moving to Saudi Arabian Airlines
in Riyadh. Further moves to Dan-Air and Air Europe saw Phil move to technical services roles. He was also part of
the team that set-up Ambassador Airways and Exxtor Group Aviation Services. Phil joined IBA in 1997. Experience
of monitoring and negotiating Aircraft Maintenance Costs over the last 30 years has been a continual element of
Phil’s professional career.
Paul Brooker, Chief Technical Manager, IBA Group Limited
Paul joined IBA in 2013 with 40 years’ experience in aircraft engineering, holding IEng, MRAeS, B1 and C
Licensed Engineer qualifications. Paul is responsible for co-ordinating aircraft and MRO audits, surveys,
and provides comprehensive aviation technical assistance. Previous experience includes Monarch Aircraft
Engineering, BAE Systems, Aero Nusantara Indonesia and Malaysian ASA. Since joining IBA, Paul has been
involved in maintenance cost analysis projects, focusing on both line and heavy events. He has also worked
on projects to resolve disputes over costs associated with aircraft redeliveries between lessors and lessees.
Kane Ray, Senior Aviation Analyst, IBA Group Limited
Graduating from Loughborough University in 2011 with a BSc in Air Transport Management, focusing on
Aviation Safety, Kane joined IBA in August of the same year. Specialising in the aero engine and component
appraisal division, he was promoted to Senior Analyst in April 2013. Kane is currently responsible for the
IBA Engine Values Book as well as all engine and component related appraisals and consultancy projects.
He has recently enrolled as a member of ISTAT and will be representing IBA as an appraisal candidate for
certification in the coming years..
Alan Miles, Director - Regulatory Services and Training, IBA Group Limited
Alan apprenticed with Rolls-Royce gaining much experience in aircraft maintenance, technical records, planning and
project management. Later he joined EAAC, establishing their JAR-145 approved Maintenance Company. He then held
several senior positions within airlines and provided consultancy services focusing on leasing and operations. Joining IBA
in 2006, Alan now heads up IBA’s training division. He is fully conversant with all relevant regulations and ‘best practice’,
including the current EU-OPS-1 and Part-145 legislation as applied to maintenance issue and Part-M requirements
for Continuing Airworthiness Management. Alan has considerable experience in negotiating contracts for aircraft and
engine maintenance and has worked for several airlines on cost benchmarking exercises.

Phillip Bolt, Director, Bolt Advisory
Principal at Bolt Steward Cable Ltd an FCA Regulated broker, Phillip has been a professional in the
aerospace sector for 37 years. An economist, engineer and FCA Approved Person by formal training, he
joined British Aerospace as an apprentice in 1977 and left as an Executive Director in 1999. In 2005 he left
Willis Limited to set up his own companies, now specializing in asset and credit risk mitigation across the
whole transportation and equipment finance sectors. With clients on all continents and having facilitated
the transfer of over $5bn of aviation asset risk, he is currently providing Residual Value Insurance (RVI)
through Ironshore Insurance Ltd on Aviation, Marine, Transportation and other assets.
Paul Briggs, Partner, Bird & Bird
Paul is the Joint Head of our International Aviation & Defence Group and is based in London. Having
worked in the aviation industry since 1987, Paul’s career covers almost every aspect of the sector. From
1989 to 1991 Paul worked on closing and financing aircraft operating lease deals for GPA and from 1992
to 1995 for a law firm in Hong Kong. In 1995 Paul joined British Aerospace and became the legal lead of
the Group aircraft leasing / financing business. As part of this business Paul helped set up Oasis Leasing in
Abu Dhabi (now Waha Capital) and subsequently led the Airbus Asset Management legal team in Toulouse.
Dave Carr, SVP Materials Business, TES Aviation Group
Dave began his career in 1977 as a Royal Air Force aircraft apprentice of 130th Apprentice Entry. In June 2000,
Dave joined TES as an Engine Program Manager delivering engine maintenance management services for
Airlines, Lessors and Financiers. Since then, he has held positions as Engineering Team Leader and Engineering
Manager, responsible for delivery of all TES consultancy services, Workshop Operations Manager accountable
for all Part 145 maintenance activities, and Operations Manager where he was accountable for all maintenance,
global warehousing, logistics and repair management activities. Dave moved to his current role in 2015 which
sees him responsible for all repair management, purchasing and transactional sales.
Dan Coulcher, SVP & Chief Commercial Officer ñ EMEA, Willis Lease Finance Corporation
Dan joined Willis Lease in 2011 as Managing Director of Willis Mitsui & Co Engine Support. Willis Mitsui was
founded in 2011 as a joint venture engine leasing company between Willis Lease and Mitsui & Co. Prior to
joining Willis, Dan worked for Rolls-Royce and Partners Finance from 2003 firstly as Marketing Executive for
EMEA before being promoted to Marketing Director in 2005 covering North and South America. He began
his aviation finance career at Finova Capital in 1997 as New Business Analyst.
Julie Dickerson, Managing Director, Shannon Engine Support
Julie was appointed Managing Director of Shannon Engine Support (SES) in January 2013. SES is a wholly
owned subsidiary of CMFi, and owns/services a portfolio of 200+ CFM engines. Julie is based in Shannon,
Ireland. Julie has over 17 years’ experience in the aviation industry. She joined GECAS in 1996 as a Six Sigma
Black belt and progressed through a number of roles prior to her last role in GECAS as SVP and General
Manager GECAS Engine Leasing. Prior to that she worked for a retail bank in South Africa and 3M in the UK.

Richard Evans, Senior Consultant, Ascend
Richard Evans is a Senior Consultant with Ascend Flightglobal Consultancy, where he is part of their 22
strong team. At Ascend, he applies his expertise working on advisory and valuations projects across the
whole commercial aviation sector. He joined Ascend in 2014 after 27 years with Rolls-Royce. Most recently
Head of Market Analysis, Richard is well known and widely respected for his informed industry views. He has
published industry forecasts and provided analysis of major trends for both internal and external customers,
as well as acting as a consultant for business improvement activities. Richard has frequently presented and
chaired at international conferences.
Alistair Forbes, Acting Head of Customer Marketing - Services, Rolls-Royce
Alistair Forbes is responsible for the strategic marketing of Rolls-Royce’s comprehensive services portfolio
for Trent and RB211 engines. This includes both long-term customer agreements such as TotalCare and
event-based time and material and fixed-price overhauls. Alistair is also responsible for additional services
such as on-wing care, LRU management and spare engine services. Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, Alistair
flew reconnaissance and ground-attack jets in the Royal Air Force and spent several years in operational
testing and development of Harrier and Typhoon systems and weapons. Alistair has an MBA from the
University of Manchester and is a qualified systems engineer.
Martin Friis-Petersen, Managing Director, MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V.
Martin Friis-Petersen (40) graduated from Copenhagen Business School with a M.Sc. in Economics and
Business Administration, and further holds a Masterís degree from St. Gallen University. He started his
career as a trainee with DaimlerChrysler Aerospace in 1998. Having held several commercial and strategic
positions with MTU Aero Engines, in 2006 he became CFO of MTU Maintenance, a JV with China Southern
Airlines. Martin returned to Germany in 2009 and joined MTU Maintenance Hannover as SVP Operations.
Early this year he was appointed Managing Director of MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V., a newly
created JV between MTU and Sumitomo Corporation.
Lourens Geldenhuys, Project Director, Stratos
Lourens Geldenhuys is Project Director of Stratos, an independent financial advisory boutique specialising
in commercial aircraft leasing and financing. Stratos is also active in aircraft sourcing and re-leasing and
performs strategic fleet analysis as part of its comprehensive range of services to airlines, financiers and
investors. Prior to joining Stratos, Lourens was employed by the Standard Bank Group for 12 years, most
notably as Global Head of Asset Finance where he successfully arranged financing and provided corporate
finance advice to numerous clients in challenging jurisdictions. Lourens is a qualified chartered accountant
and holds a masters degree in corporate restructuring. He is based in London.
Carl Glover, Vice President, AAR Aircraft Turbine Centre
Carl joined AAR in 2000 in the capacity of Sales Manager within the Aircraft Turbine Center, responsible for
inventory sales to operators, financial houses, lessors, OEM’s, MRO’s and various intermediaries. In 2004
Mr. Glover was promoted to Director Commercial Sales and further to VP Sales for the EMEA region for the
Aviation Supply Chain group. Mr. Glover was recently promoted to the position of Vice President of AAR’s
Aircraft Turbine Centre. In this expanded role, Mr. Glover has full oversight of the growing ATC division of
AAR. This includes overseeing strategic & business level growth initiatives and P&L responsibility for the
business in line with AAR Corp objectives.
Erik Goedhart, Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales, Middle East, Africa, Turkey, Central Asia, Kuehne+Nagel
Erik started his career in 1981 with NCR computers, serving in direct sales as well as marketing and business
unit management functions. In 1993 he joined Fokker to be the VP Marketing and Sales for Fokker Aircraft
Services, doing the maintenance and overhaul of Fokker aircraft as well as Boeing and military aircraft and
helicopters. Erik was a key player in setting up the Fokker Services organization in 1996 after the Fokker
aircraft manufacturer ceased to exist. In 2003 Erik started his own consultancy and advised Kuehne+Nagel
resulting in becoming employed as the SVP Aerospace.
Richard Goodhead, VP Marketing, Rolls-Royce
Richard joined Rolls-Royce in 1990 as a sponsored undergraduate, undergoing an intensive yearís training in
Derby before completing an Engineering degree at Cambridge University. After graduating, Richard worked
in several engineering positions on the Tay and Trent Programmes, before spending several years in RollsRoyceís Aircraft Performance department. Richard has since moved into a more strategic position adopting

An aerospace professional with over 40 years of experience of the industry, gained mostly with RollsRoyce. David has worked on forecasting, strategy and analysis of the civil market, relationship building and
sales and marketing in the MRO business. He has lived and worked in the UK, France, USA and Japan. In
the last few years he has worked with a variety of consultancies - principally TeamSAI - helping airlines and
MROís develop their businesses and reduce their maintenance costs. He joined Delta TechOps in February
2014 to help develop Deltaís MRO business in Europe and the Middle-East.
Bob James, Managing Director, AerFin
Mr James founded AerFin Limited in September 2010 as a means to returning to aviation advisory and
investment management. With an emphasis on aircraft engine commercial management of distressed
assets, AerFin currently employs 15 staff engaged in a variety of projects concerning residual value
realisation and exit strategy planning. Recent acquisitions include A340, B767s aircraft and CFM56, CF6 and
RB211 engines. Mr James has also undertaken significant valuation projects in addition to analysis of point
of sale engine service agreements.
Bobby Janagan, General Manager, Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance
Bobby Janagan is Vice President and General Manager of Rolls-Royce and Partners Finance Ltd (ìRRPFî), a
Rolls-Royce plc - GATX Corporation joint-venture company. RRPF was established as a part of Rolls-Royce’s
long-term after market strategy, which included the provision of long-term dedicated spare engine leases
to both Rolls-Royce and IAE operators. Bobby Janagan joined RRPF in 1998 as a Management Accountant.
In 1999, he became Product Development Manager for the Engine Leasing business where he played a key
role in diversifying into the leasing of industrial gas turbines. In 2004, Bobby became Marketing Director for
Asia and the Far East and in 2012 was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of RRPF.
Paolo Lironi, CEO, SGI Aviation
Paolo Lironi is SGIís CEO. He joined SGI in 2008, with more than 10 years of experience in commercial
aviation. Mr. Lironi has a strong track record in aircraft leasing, contract negotiation, redeliveries, buyouts,
and end-of-life scenario planning. His clients include financial institutions as well as large lessors and
commercial airlines. Mr. Lironi advises clients on leasing, asset management, and planning issues, providing
services such as brokering deals, lease portfolio analysis, cost forecasting, sale leasebacks, and the transfer
of aircraft to new jurisdictions or lessees. Mr. Lironi also leads a team of engine specialists who assess, value,
inspect, and manage engines on behalf of clients.
Kieran McGann, Regional Sales Director, AerData B.V.
Kieran McGann is the Regional Sales Director for EMEA, the Americas and Defence for AerData and has
been with the company for over 2 years. Prior to joining AerData, Kieran was in Technical Records and
Reliability Analysis at Air Contractors in Ireland and served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years as a Naval Flight
Officer. Kieran has an Executive MBA from University College Dublin Michael Smurfit Graduate Business
School, BA in Computer Science from Manhattan College and completing a Diploma in Aviation Leasing
and Finance from The Law Society of Ireland.
Bryson Monteleone, Principal, Tailwind Capital
Bryson Monteleone joined Tailwind Capital in early 2008 with over 10 years’ experience of financing
and appraising commercial aircraft. His primary responsibilities at Tailwind Capital are to source aircraft
remarketing and acquisitions for Tailwind’s select group of clients, he was also heavily involved with Tailwind
Capital’s conversion of CRJ Executive Jet aircraft. Currently, Bryson is sourcing opportunities for Tailwind’s
equity fund clients who are looking to build their portfolios in the aviation sector. Bryson holds an MBA from
American University and is an ISTAT Certified Appraiser.
Barrie O’Connell, Partner, KPMG
Barrie is Partner-in-charge of the KPMG Cork office and has been specialising in aviation and engine leasing
since 2000. He has been involved in the provision of audit and other advisory services to a†wide variety of
aviation finance clients, including a number of SEC registered companies and securitisation vehicles. Barrie
specialises in the provision of IFRS, US and Irish Gaap advice in the aviation finance sector and has been

Brian Ovington, Director of Marketing, GE Aviation
Brian Ovington is the Director of Marketing for GE Aviation Engine Services responsible for services and
MRO strategy, product marketing, pricing, branding and promotion. In this role, he leads GE Aviation Services’ efforts to provide airline and MRO customers with winning service solutions including engine
overhaul, materials, and customized service agreements. Before joining marketing, Brian held aviation
services roles in customer contract management and commercial process improvement. Prior to that,
Brian progressed through engineering roles in turbine design, product support, and powerplant systems
engineering before joining services.
Robert Parker, Director, Engine Maintenance & Planning, Air Canada
Mr. Parker, presently Director-Engine Maintenance & Planning at Air Canada, has been associated with
Aviation for over 40 years, primarily in the Aero Engine field. He started his career at Rolls-Royce Bristol
Engine division. Since then, he has held various positions in Rolls-Royce Canada, Bombardier Aerospace
and several major Canadian Airlines. He has gained experience in various areas of the business including:
Development/Test, Repair/Overhaul, Operational Support and Engineering. In his most recent position at
Air Canada, he is managing the MRO contracts for Engines and APUís to support Air Canada’s fleet of over
200 Wide & Narrow bodied aircraft.
Derek Paterson, Director Sales — Europe, MTU Maintenance
After graduating in 1988 from Heriot-Watt University with a honours degree in Mechanical Engineering
Derek joined Rolls-Royce at their East Kilbride facility entering the Graduate Training Programme. During
the next two years he moved through various engineering and customer support training positions prior to
supporting the Adour military engine programme as a shop engineer. In the following years Derek moved
up the organisation to Quality Assurance Manager, prior to heading up the V2500 Customer Business team.
In 2006 Derek left Rolls-Royce to join MTU Maintenance Hannover, Germany.
Pascal Picano, Head of Global Marketing, Apollo Aviation Group
Mr. Picano joined AAG in 2013. He is based in Dublin, Ireland as global head of marketing. Mr. Picano has
over 20 years of experience in aviation. Mr. Picano has held positions in sales and marketing for large and
small companies across the sector, such as SAFRAN in France and China, Swissair Group in Switzerland,
China and the U.S., Sumitomo Corp. in the Netherlands and ILFC in the Netherlands. Mr. Picano has been
instrumental in originating and completing aircraft and engine transactions of all types around the world.
Mr. Picano has diplomas from the Institut Superieur de Gestion (member of French Hautes Ecoles de
Commerce) in Paris, France and UC Berkeley, USA.
Bill Polyi, President, Magellan Aviation Group
Bill began his career at Pratt & Whitney Canadaís Overhaul Shop managing parts purchasing and vendor
repairs for PT6 turboprops as well as JT3, JT8, JT12 and JT15D turbofans. Ten years and a B.Comm later, he
joined a small aftermarket supplier called Air/Ground Equipment Sales (AGES) which quickly grew to become
an industry leader. As its Sr. Vice President, he managed a pool of over 150 PW100, JT8/JT9, PW4000, CF650/80 and RB211 engines. In 2000, Bill and some former AGES executives founded Magellan Aviation Group
which today is a major aftermarket supplier specializing in the regional aircraft market with ATR, DASH8 and
CRJ spares support and over 75 AE3007, CF34-3/-8, PW120 thru PW150A engines in its leasepool.
Shane Tingey, Sales Director, AJW Aviation
Tingey was appointed in January 2015 to bring his specialist industry experience to this crucial role. His
diverse set of skills have been honed in a career that spans the aviation trade, repair management and the
bigger corporate environment of Airbus. This broad view of the market, from a commercial and practical
perspective, fits perfectly with the flexible and innovative business ethos of AJW. Tingey’s primary and initial
focuses are AJW Aviation’s stock sales, brokered sales and exchanges across AJW’s diverse customer base.

joined SES in 1995 from Snecma where he held various positions at Engineering, Product Support and Sales
