Western’s buildings include nine residences, eight libraries, laboratories, classrooms, student space, eateries and cafeterias, and space for performing and visual arts. Opened in 2009, the Western Student Recreation Centre features a 20,000-square-foot fitness centre with more than 200 pieces of weight and cardio equipment, a 50m pool, squash/racquetball courts, five gymnasiums, group fitness classes and drop-in gym activities. Exchange students have the opportunity to take a variety of courses within different programs, provided pre-requisite qualifications are met. With so much choice, you’re bound to find courses to fit your goals. Courses are available across a range of faculties and program areas including: Management Medical Sciences Engineering Health Sciences Science Information & Media Studies Social Science Arts & Humanities Music Economics Restricted/closed Departments Exchange students are not eligible to take courses in professional programs such as Law, Medicine, Aviation, Dentistry, Business (Ivey), Education, and professional programs in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Please note that courses in Management and Organizational Studies, Economics, and Media, Information and Technoculture are very competitive and only students from these fields can request to take courses in these areas. Can I pre-register for classes before arrival? Yes If yes, please give details Once exchange has been confirmed, students may select courses online. These courses will be assessed by faculty members to determine if they have the necessary academic background to succeed in the course. When the selected courses become approved, students may then enrol into the courses online. If no, is on campus housing readily available? Living On Campus Traditional dormitory-style residences and apartment-style suites are available. Most residences offer a meal plan. Single students who have been accepted by mid-May for a full-year exchange will receive a guaranteed offer of residence or waiting list information.
