That accomplishment could not have been achieved without a tremendous team effort from all of Eagles’ employees. Team members from every job description. Members who have been with us going on 25 years to those who were here only a few days have made up that important team. In the past few week we have had the opportunity to “showcase” our plant and employees to local educators, the media and various business acquaintances. To say they were impressed with our employees and our facility is an understatement. Some of those visitors are longtime customers. Some are potential customers who will be asking us to “Git R Done” in the near future. In today’s business environment you must grow to remain a viable part of the Supply Chain. 2007 will see growth in every area of our business. At times it won’t be easy and we will find ourselves asking you for more. We are confident we can pull together and Git R Done, Again! “Keys to success: research your idea, plan for success, expect success, and just plain do it! It amazes me how many people skip the last step. Practice being a “doer” and success will follow you every step of the way.” Josh S. We want to thank each and everyone for all of their support and cooperation in our efforts. Remember that strategy is not only something for Eagle Steel but can be used by the individual. Strategic planning determines where you are or where an organization is going over the next year or more, know how it’s going to get there and how you will know if it got there or not. The focus of a strategic plan is usually on the entire family or organization. The trailer will have three axles and will be able to go over the road with approximately 48,000 pounds. When the 3 axle trailer is delivered the driver count should be thirteen. Eagle Works with Area Teachers Eagle Steel Products has been providing information to enhance the education of area students. In coordination with One Southern Indiana, Eagle and three other businesses invited local teachers and administrators to tour their facilities. This gave the educators a chance to investigate local manufacturing jobs. One Southern Indiana is hoping that this practice will help educators be more equipped to help students prepare for the workforce after graduation. Eagle Steel President, Chuck Moore, said that he hoped to let educators know that Eagle is always looking for good employees to join the Eagle team. He felt that the visit was successful and that it generated interest in those visiting. 10/9 10/9 10/13 Henry Taylor Irres Douglas Kelly Miles 1/5 1/10 1/10 Glen Colvin Joseph Knight Wendy Osborne 10/18 Sheila May 1/20 Timothy Isaacs 10/20 10/21 11/9 11/11 11/12 11/14 11/18 11/21 11/22 11/25 12/2 12/12 12/14 12/15 12/24 12/28 12/31 1/2 CaNon Harper Ernie Samples Cory McBride Robert Walls Richard Ferguson Phyllis Thomas William Davisson Rickey Couts Genevieve Hume George Gill Dona Curtis Daniel Delaney Aquanetta Jewell Barbara Murphy Beth Hamm Monica Willis Anthony Shade Ronald Johnson 1/23 1/25 1/25 1/29 2/3 2/5 2/9 2/9 2/12 2/16 2/17 2/19 2/23 2/25 2/25 2/28 3/1 3/3 Mike Casey Chuck Moore Steve Varney Bennie Ingram Cora Whitlock Nickolas Genet Derrick Coffey Steven Miller Danasha Lathrop Neil Diggs Shannon Ross Jennifer Wolfe Joshua Loy Donald Wolfe Wayne Carter Joe Lane Christopher Simpson Crissy Hardesty 3/4 3/12 3/14 3/15 3/24 3/25 3/28 4/1 4/6 4/7 4/8 4/8 4/10 4/11 4/14 4/19 4/22 4/22 4/25 4/26 4/28 4/29 Billy Radford Ricky Radcliff Tracy Burrage Jackie Thornton Annette Carney Raymond Ridge Chip Moore Stephen Groeger Brent Oliver Derrick Farley Edward Leveridge Lori Hope Gordon Pryor Garry Cummins James Spangler David Tucker Dominique Moore Regina Wright Patricia Hall Lara Lott Dwight Cooper James Custer Page 10 T h e F ly e r C a leCalendar n d a r o fofE Events vents Business Focus T h e F ly e r Page 3 Indiana Tube Selects Eagle Steel Products To Supply Slit Cold Rolled Steel for 2007 February A Year to Your Health Nutritional Awareness Thursday, February 22 Safety Meeting March A Year to Your Health Smoking Cessation Program Thursday, March 22 Safety Meeting April A Year to Your Health Exercise Education April 26 Safety Meeting By Gary Shumate Sales and Marketing Manager Eagle Steel Products will be supplying steel for Indiana Tube in 2007. Continual Improvement Process If you don’t do it first, your competitors will... By Annette Carney Quality Manager Quality is a never-ending quest and Continual Improvement is a never-ending effort to discover and eliminate the main causes of problems. It is accomplished by using small-steps for improvements, rather than implementing one huge improvement. Continual Improvement involves everyone, from the hourly workers to top-management. Continual Improvement means making things better. It is NOT fighting fires. Its goal is NOT to blame people for problems or failures...it is simply a way of looking at how we can do our work better. When we take a problem solving approach, we often never get to the root causes because our main goal is to put out the fire. But when we engage in the continual improvement process, we seek to learn what causes things to happen. Process improvement is important as it has often been said that process account for 80% of all problems while people account for the remaining 20%. Hope Health Newsletter Mind Games Kids and Body Image Mental “exercise” causes the brain to make new nerve connections and can protect against Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss. Good ways to give your brain a workout include: 1. Card games, crossword puzzles, and games that use a new way of problem solving. 2. Hobbies that require memorizing and thinking, like learning a new language. 3. Use your non-dominant hand to do tasks. This makes your brain work harder and establishes new memory pathways. 4. Be open to new ideas and experiences. Avoid constantly talking about diets and your own weight or your child’s weight if you want your child to grow up with a healthy body image. Focus on balanced meals, portion control, and physical activities that you can enjoy together instead of stressing appearance or weight loss. Teach your children other values. Praise them for good grades, participating in sports, extracurricular activities, playing an instrument, helping someone in need, and just being themselves.
