The joy of the Lord is your Strength and Stronghold. Nehemiah 8:10
I have been fighting depression for several years and standing on faith that God will take it from me.
Most times I do okay, but there are those days when no matter how much I try I can’t seem to get the

Do you need Christian depression help? In this spiritual battle God’s Word is your own personal two
edged sword. It is the weapon that your Heavenly Father has given you to paralyze Satan and his
henchmen as they try to attack your mind with depression.
Why Does God’s Word Stop Satan’s Attacks?

Because as a Christian, you are not subject to the curse (Deuteronomy 28:65-68; Galatians 3:13). That
means, anything that Satan tries to do to you, is “spiritually illegal.” But, the devil is a thief (John
10:10). If you do not call him on it like any criminal, he will keep stealing from you! When you quote
the Word of God at Satan, you are resisting him. You are calling him out as the thief that he is. You are
refusing to let him dupe you into taking what he’s trying to dish out. God promises that when you resist
Satan, he will flee from you (James 4:7). So, “take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God’ and
kick Satan’s butt (Ephesians 6:17).

I hope this information helps those of you who like myself are fighting depression. The suggestion was
to put each of the above scriptures on a 3x5 card that you can carry with you. I sincerely hope that each
of you will take the time to look up the listed scriptures and put them on cards. I know I will. May God
continue to bless each and everyone of you.

Elijah McCoy
The noted African American inventor, Elijah McCoy was issued more than 57 patents for his inventions during his lifetime. His best known invention was a cup that fed lubricating oil to machine
bearings through a small bore tube. Machinists and engineers who wanted genuine McCoy lubricators might have used the expression “the real McCoy.”
Elijah McCoy – Biography
The inventor was born in 1843, in Colchester, Ontario, Canada. His parents were former slaves.
George and Mildred McCoy (nee Goins) had fled Kentucky for Canada on the Underground Railroad.
George McCoy enlisted in the British forces; in return, he was awarded 160 acres of land for his service. When Elijah was three his family moved back to the U.S., settling in Detroit, Michigan. He had
eleven brothers and sisters.
In 1868m Elijah McCoy married Ann Elizabeth Stewart who died four years later. A year later,
McCoy married his second wife Mary Eleanor Delaney. The couple had no children.
At the age of fifteen, Elijah McCoy served as a mechanical engineering apprenticeship in Edinburgh,
Scotland. Afterwards, he returned to Michigan to pursue a position in his field. However, the only
job he found was that of a locomotive fireman and oiler for the Michigan Central Railroad. The fireman on a train was responsible for fueling the steam engine and the oiler lubricated the engine’s
moving parts as well as the train’s axles and bearings. Because of his training, he was able to identify
and solve the problems of engine lubrication and overheating. At that time, trains needed to periodically stop and be lubricated to prevent overheating. Elijah McCoy developed a lubricator for steam
engines that did not require the train to stop. His lubricator used steam pressure to pump oil wherever it was needed.
