This is for pre and post transplant patients and their families, medical and staff personnel on all of the heart, lung, and liver floors, those who are at the Townhouse, and donor families who would like to participate. We need the help of those of you that live in the Birmingham area to help provide the food. Please call Stan Smith at 205-655-3151 if you have any questions [please leave a message]. The Support Group will be furnishing ham, turkey, soft drinks, paper goods and plastic wear. We are in need of casseroles, vegetables, congealed salads, salads, and deserts. Each year this does provide a blessing to those who are in the hospital especially during Christmas. Last year we used over 450 plates! If you can spare a couple of hours on Christmas day, we really could use your help serving. We look forward to hearing from each of you. Happy Holidays everyone!! And remember to... Most of all I remember him for his sense of humor. He was always telling jokes or doing something to make you laugh. One story about how he loved to tease Nancy - he told her that the liver was the only organ transplant mention in the Bible. Naturally, she fell for it and asked ‘where does it say that’. He replied slowly ‘de….liver…us from evil’! This was followed with a big laugh from Nancy and him. Rest in peace my friend, rest in peace. From all of the officers of the Support Group, I would like to wish everyone HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a very prosperous New Year.
