Case Study
SDL Tridion provides Corona Direct a high-performance
platform, empowered marketers and improved online
interaction with customers and prospects to create a
satisfying and customer journey.
Corona Direct is the largest direct insurer
in Belgium enabling their customers and
prospects to arrange insurance online or by
telephone.
For their website, it is then critical that
their visitors can find the information they
need as easily as possible and are provided
offerings that are relevant to their queries.
In addition, visitors need to be able to act
on this information and easily sign up for
an insurance policy directly on the website.
“Our marketers now have much more
freedom and can update the website when
they need to. Before, depending on IT
commitments, it could take them up to two
weeks to wait for the same the changes.”

Webmaster at Corona Direct
It was time for a change
In 2010, Corona Direct decided to
reconsider their Open Source WCM
System. Webmaster, Hilde Haerens says,
“The system we had was not reliable.
Following email campaigns, in which
hundreds of thousands of emails were
sent out, our previous website frequently
crashed. The disadvantage of open source
was that it simply didn’t offer the support
or scalability we needed. In our business
we need our website to be online 24/7 to
offer our customers reliable service. We
knew it was time to make a new choice.”
“In addition, our marketing department
frequently had to wait up to two weeks
to have changes made to the website. We
wanted a more user-friendly system that
would enable our marketers to shorten
their time-to-market.”
She continues, “As a subsidiary of Dexia,
we decided to take a look at their content
management solution and saw that
they used and endorsed SDL Tridion.
In addition, using the same system as

SDL Tridion Web Content Management
our parent company enables us to work
together within the group.”
Migrating to SDL Tridion
When migrating their existing content
to SDL Tridion, Corona Direct chose SDL
partner Panoptic. Corona Direct was on a
tight time line, since the instability of their
existing system was no longer acceptable.
Corona Direct was very pleased with the
entire migration process. Says H. Haerens,
“Not only was the process very fast,
Panoptic approached everything in a very
structured way. In addition, the follow up,
testing and support went just as planned.”
Making it easy for customer to connect
Corona Direct has three main goals for their
new website: a high-performance platform,
empowering marketers and improved
online interaction with customers and
prospects.
Having fulfilled their first mandate — a
stable, high-performance online presence
— SDL Tridion also effectively addressed
Corona Direct’s other mandates as well.
Corona Direct achieved greater efficiency
by enabling their marketers to make
changes to their site directly.
The use of forms will ensure that all
inquiries are efficiently directed to capable
experts within Corona Direct, providing
“Corona Direct were used to
depending on 3rd party help when
making changes to their website.
They were astonished by how many
things they can now do themselves
using SDL Tridion. Making changes
independently was very new to
them. We made them participants
in the project from the start to
support this learning curve.”

prospects the answers they need efficiently.
IT also benefits, since they can now focus
on their primary tasks rather than on
updating web content.
Corona Direct will roll out a new capability
on their website, “My Corona”. This part of
the website will provide targeted content
to customers, enabling them to view the
status of their current policies, make claims
online and even view additional policy
options. This makes their interaction with
Corona Direct much more convenient,
ensuring satisfying support throughout the
customer journey.
