RUSSIAN JACK PARK COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING
6:30 PM, Wednesday, June 08, 2005, at the Wonder Park Library

1. APD/AFD Update:
APD/AFD will take feedback and give an update. APD Sergeant Cindi Stanton’s telephone number is 786-2668 and
her email is cstanton@ci.anchorage.ak.us. Sergeant Stanton’s hours are from Noon to 10pm (Monday thru Thursday) and
she can assist in community issues and problems if you email her with the specific information that is not an emergency.
2. Drug and Gang Violence Presentation:
MSgt William Hall with the Alaska National Guard Counter Drug Support Program/DDR will present information on
Drugs and Gang Violence. This will be an hour presentation to increase our knowledge as family and community members
in working toward creating a positive solution for our neighborhood.
3. Committee, Assembly and Legislative Reports (3 minute time limit) :
Approve the Minutes and Treasurer’s report and authorize payment of bills through out the summer. Status and plans for
the San Antonio Park Celebration and annual Summer Picnic. Assembly and Legislative Reports from our elected
officials. FCC report from our delegate. Russian Jack Community Patrol update and we need more volunteers.
Donations of both time and money make a big difference to the health of our community. If you would like to join the
patrol please contact the Patrol phone number 929-3794.
4. Weed and Seed Initiative : The Weed and Seed Initiative Report will be presented. We are actively working the
three subcommittees: Law Enforcement/Community Policing, Neighborhood Revitalization/Restoration and Prevention,
Intervention and Treatment. If there are community residents interested in participating please call Tim or Kathleen.
5. Bylaw Changes:
Our bylaws committee has reviewed the new ordinance 2005-1(S1) approved by the Assembly on April 12, 2005, and we
have one minor change that must be approved in 120 days. The change is under President (Article VIII, Section D.1.d) :
d. ensure that the email and postal mail membership lists are only used for council business.
We reviewed the first reading for the change in May and approve it at our June Meeting.
6. Information and Mailing List Changes to EMAIL :
Due to the MOA Budget reviews we would like to switch as many people to email as possible since regular mail may
be eliminated. Please call Ed/Deborah at 277-1977 or Kathleen at 337-7377. If you have current resident by your name
then you do not have to respond. The Anchorage Literacy Project located at 1345 Rudakof Circle,#104 has a Community
Resource Computer available Mon thru Thurs, please call 337-1981 for hours. First Free Methodist Church at 4607 East
6th Avenue has a Food Bank the third Saturday from 10 – 12 am, please call 333-6085 for mo re information.

Meeting Information & Council Interests :
We will be meeting at the Wonder Park Elementary School Library until June 2005 but the committees for Weed and
Seed will continue to meet through the summer. In June will have a presentation on Drugs and approve our updated
bylaws. Please let us know of topics of interest for the council agenda.
