There is also a minor in Early Childhood Education available for those who wish to work in pre-kindergarten care and education. Concordia also offers a graduate program which combines a Master of Education degree with a teaching credential program. The Liberal Studies major is the Elementary Subject Matter Preparation Program approved by the state of California for students preparing to be elementary or multiple subject teachers. The coursework is aligned with California Content Specifications and is the best preparation for the CSET (California Subject Examination for Teachers) that all students pursuing an elementary teaching credential must pass. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 is required for admission to the university, and a GPA of 2.7 is required for admission to the teaching credential program. Concordia University accepts CSU GE or IGETC GE plans, and students may transfer upon completion of 24 or more semester units. Admission also requires one letter of recommendation. Foreign Language Requirement: 2 years of high school coursework, or one year of college coursework, in a single language.
