ANGELES CITY – The more, the merrier.
At least four persons will slug it out in the mayoralty
race here in 2010, unlike in the last local elections when
only two joined the fight.
Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and her ally, Councilor Jay Sangil, welcomed reports that Subic Clark
Alliance for Development Council (SCADC) Chairman
Edgardo “Ed” Pamintuan will join the race for the city’s
top elective post, making it a four-cornered fight.

Army uncovers 6 landmines

BY ARMAND GALANG
BONGABON, Nueva Ecija – An “impending disaster” on peace and
order was aborted by elements of
the Philippine Army’s 71st Infantry
Battalion when they uncovered six
homemade landmines in a hinterland area of Sitio Tamale, Barangay Digmala here, the military re-
ported on Tuesday.
This as Major Gen. Ralph Villanueva, commander of the 7th Infantry Division (7ID) urged the people
to condemn the buying of the landmines in an area where innocent
people could fall victims.
“I enjoin all concerned citizens,
members of the civil society and
NGOs (non-government organiza-
tions) to condemn this terrorist act
of the CPP/NPA [Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s
Army],” Villanueva said in a statement.
Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Bautista, commander of the 702nd Infantry Brigade, said the landmines
were placed in a container and

NPA defies mine ban treaty, says Army
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - A Philippine Army official on Tuesday accused
the New People’s Army in
Central Luzon of manufacturing new landmines and
of planning to use these in
an ambush along a road
in Nueva Ecija and Aurora
in violation of the Mine Ban
Treaty, to which the Philippine government is a signatory to in August 2000.
Brig. Gen. Emmanuel
Bautista, commander of
the 702nd Infantry Brigade,
raised the accusation after soldiers recovered six
supposedly new bombs
buried in two spots that
were located five meters
apart in the forested portions of the Sierra Madre
mountain ranges in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija on July
4.
The NPA in the region
has yet to confirm or deny
owning the cache. The
military last monitored the
local communist army of
using landmines in a 2002
ambush along the Pantabangan-Canili Road where
a soldier was killed. The
NPA did not own that attack.
Talking to Punto Central Luzon by phone, Bautista said the location of
the items, unearthed in
Sitio Tamale in Barangay
Dimagla, was pinpointed
by an NPA rebel who recently surrendered to the
military.
At least seven clashes
that broke out there last
January and February left
dead a soldier and 10
rebels, previous military
reports said.
Its media monitoring
counted at least 145
deaths in 2005 or three
times higher than the 47
fatalities reported in 2004.
The Philippines government is a party to the Mine
Ban Treaty and Convention
on Conventional Weapons.
Landmine Monitor said
in its website that the landmine bill “is not a priority
for Congress, especially
after President Macapagal-Arroyo declared a
state of national emergency in February 2006.
It said that the Armed
Forces of the Philippines
stated it has never used
anti-personnel mines in its
campaigns against communist and Muslim insurgents. The government
also reported it had disposed of its entire inventory of 2,460 Claymore
mines in July 2008.
Landmine Monitor said
the NPA provided no evidence to its claim that
military “use landmines
and lay them on paths
where they expect the
NPA and the people to
take.”

Insureksyon sa GL kayang igupo sa 2010
NI ROMMEL RAMOS
PUNTO! CENTRAL LUZON • JULY 8, 2009 • WEDNESDAY
“I think it can be
achieved,” ani Dela Cruz sa
isang panayam patungkol
sa deadline na itinakda na
Armed Forces of the Philippines para tuluyang matigil ang insureksyon.
Ayon kay Dela Cruz,
mula noong Nobyembre
2
mataas na pinuno nito sa
Bataan, Aurora ant Pampanga.
“They are demoralized
due to our successful operations, sunod-sunod ang
accomplishment namin in
partnership with the Army’s Northern Luzon Command,” ani ng regional police director.
ransom.
“Wala ng ideology sa
kanila, dahil economics na
ang kanilang interest,”
aniya.
easy money through revolutionary tax.”
Matatandaan na noong
2006 ay pinangunahan ng
ngayon ay retiradong si
General Jovito Palparan

SBMA’s 1st half revenue exceeds 2008 figure
BY MALOU DUNGOG
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – Authorities here reported on Monday that total revenue generated by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) from seaport operations in the first six
months this year have already
exceeded the total 12-month income in 2008.
“This is a result of the efforts
by the SBMA to aggressively
market the Subic port and to
attract more shippers, importers, brokers and forwarders to
Subic,“ said SBMA senior deputy administrator for operations
Ferdinand Hernandez.
Hernandez said Subic seaport’s six-month revenue rose to
P276.49 million this year, thus
surpassing last year’s 12-month
record of P276.24 by 0.09 percent or P244,153.
According to the SBMA Seaport Department, Subic’s seaport has consistently shown an
upward trend since 2005, with a
5.41 percent growth recorded in
2006; 14.29 percent in 2007; and
26.63 percent in 2008.
“Now, we are confident that
at the rate we’re going, our figure at the end of this year may
even be double that of last year,”
Hernandez said.
In the month of June alone,
the SBMA Seaport Department
recorded an income of P60.69
million, the highest monthly revenue ever recorded in the last
five years.
The Subic seaport also earlier posted record-breaking
monthly revenues this year:
P37.62 million in January,
P41.57 million in February,
P51.01 million in March, P44.49
million in April, and P41.07 million in May.
The SBMA said seaport revenues were derived from vessel
and cargo charges, leases or
rentals, processing fees, SBMA
shares from joint ventures, and
other billings for port users.
For the first semester of this
year, the bulk of seaport revenue came from vessel charges,
totaling to P112.11 million.
According to Hernandez the
SBMA Seaport Department has
pegged its revenue forecast for
2009 at P316.3 million.
“This means that our current
first-half figure of more than P276
million is already 87.41 percent
of our P316.3-million goal for this
year,” Hernandez stressed.
“Hopefully, we will exceed our
target at the end of the year,” he
added.
SBMA seaport manager Perfecto Pascual said that the SBMA’s goal-setting program has
so far worked wonders for the
seaport department.
He said that when his department first made a revenue
forecast in 2006, seaport income
rose significantly when they
achieved 94.75 percent of its
P201.46-million forecast. This
was followed by a 93.54-percent
completion of the P233.21-million forecast in 2007, and the
chart-busting record of 121.05percent in 2008 when Subic
posted an actual revenue of
P276.24-million against a forecast of P228.2 million.

Pineda (2nd right). PHOTO BY JOHNNY R. REBLANDO
Hernandez said that among
the factors that largely contributed to this year’s unprecedented revenue collection were the
operation of Subic’s New Container Terminal 1 (NCT-1) by the
Subic Bay International Terminal
Corp. (SBITC), income from vessel lay-ups, as well as wharfage
fee for petroleum products, fer-
tilizer, and grains like soya and
wheat.
Hernandez also attributed
Subic’s growing seaport income
to the government’s complementary program on infrastructure development.
“All these record-breaking figures are because of President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s vi-
sion for Subic and the huge investments in infrastructure like
the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx), the North Luzon
Expressway (NLEx), and the
Subic Port Development. All together, these have greatly enhanced Subic’s performance as
a logistics hub,” Hernandez added.

Subic’s silver lining
DISPLACED WORKERS, despair not.
Displaced workers at the Subic Bay Freeport, that is.
The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the
Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) have
crafted a program that goes beyond providing displaced
workers alternatives to the jobs they lost.
The SBMA and the PCE shall provide the workers the
necessary skills preparatory to engaging in their own
business ventures through a series of “Go Negosyo”
seminars.
Jose Ma. Concepcion III, PCE founding trustee and
president, said the program’s focus is on “making a
prospective business profitable.”
He hastened: “Technique in putting up the correct
business and making them profitable is the core of the
education process.”
The program will initially benefit some 200 former
Subic Freeport workers with intentions of venturing into
small business enterprises related to the local tourism
industry.
As Concepcion explained: “Small enterprises make
our economy stronger,” Armand Arreza, SBMA
administrator, riposted: “These displaced workers will
become employers and create more jobs.”
Hence, both Concepcion and Arreza find the training
“essential to motivate Filipinos to think business, become
working entrepreneurs and create jobs.”
That, pursuant to the PCE mission “to instill among
Filipinos a mindset of optimism and a culture of
entrepreneurship.”
Amid the continuing global economic crunch, the
SBMA-PCE program does indeed breed optimism among
the workers’ ranks, the silver lining behind the darkest
clouds, so to speak.
Now, were other freeports and eco-zones as proactive as the SBMA in looking after the welfare of the
workers…
Wishful thinking
PUNTO! CENTRAL LUZON • JULY 8, 2009 • WEDNESDAY
LEADING CONSTITUTIONALIST Fr. Joaquin Bernas,
S.J., urged an audience of Kapampangan Catholic lay
leaders last week to campaign for the rejection of
candidates who support Con-ass.
“Candidates should be made to answer if they support
the mode (Con-ass) in revising the Constitution.” So was
the good priest quoted as saying.
That is directly asking for the rejection by the
Kapampangan voters of all their sitting congressmen:
Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin of the 1st District, Juan Miguel
“Mikey” Arroyo of the 2nd, Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales of the
3rd, and Anna York Bondoc-Sagum of the 4th – all of them
solidly supporting Con-ass.
So will the people of Pampanga heed Bernas’ call?
The Jesuit could as well go fly a kite.

“POLITICAL POSITIONS are the realms of the laity and not of men
and women of the cloth. I believe that the laity of Pampanga is now
more mature and ready to take active part in governance and look
among themselves for a leader.”
So spake San Fernando Auxiliary Bishop Pablo Virgilio David
as he asked the Kapampangan laity here to “stop pushing priests
and religious leaders to run for public office.”
He may not have spoken ex cathedra, but the bishop’s words
are no less binding on the faithful.
Still may we be privileged to ask: So where was Among Ambo
two years and four months ago when the “reluctant” Rev. Fr. Eddie
T. Panlilio was pushed to run for governor? He should have said as
much then, better yet, walked his talk.
Besides the laity, perhaps the good bishop should address
priests and religious leaders too: that they not allow the laity to
shove them into politics. It takes two to tango, as everyone very
well knows, bishops included, even if they don’t dance.
Brilliant theologian as he is, Among Ambo has a ready
rationalization on Panlilio’s case – “a different situation” obtained
in May 2007, “the circumstances were not the same as today’s
political situation.”
How different, he did not elaborate in the news
report where he was quoted.
A quick look back to 2007: contesting the
governorship were the twin evils that scourged
Pampanga – illegal gambling and the quarry
plunder. Thus the need for a moral alternative. That
obviously makes Among Ambo’s “different
situation.”
The lamentations of Panlilio himself though
belie the bishop’s contention. Jueteng, under the
guise of the small town lottery, is a recurrent refrain
in the governor’s already discordant song of good
governance.
And then there is the already announced
Capitol comeback of Leon Guerrero, er, Lito Lapid,
the very embodiment of the perceived plunder of
the provincial quarry coffers. That which Panlilio
recently took to the Ombudsman, although Vice
Gov. Yeng Guiao has long lodged that same
complaint with the same office.
In the scheme of local politics now, it would
seem that the 2010 elections would just be reprise
of 2007. Same issues of evils. Same contenders
and pretenders. Therefore necessitating the reelection of the same moral alternative.
“We must stop pushing the religious to run for
public office. It is a different realm altogether from
religious ministry.”
So the bishop re-stressed his point for effect.
Now, what if Panlilio runs for re-election, or
inshallah, for president of the Republic?
So what will Among Ambo do? Come out with
another rationalization of a “different situation”
obtaining in Pampanga or in the whole
Philippines?
The difference is not in the situation. Most
clearly now, the difference is in Panlilio. No, make
that: The difference is Panlilio.
So can you do anything about it, Your
Excellency?

WITH THE kind indulgence of
the readers patiently following
the series on “SCADC &
LGUs: PARTNERS FOR
PROGRESS AND DEVELOPMENT”, I am starting a new
series here about our
“Ocean’s 8” adventures during
a recent US of A trip—while
memories are still fresh like
foods fit for serving. But I will
surely continue the interrupted series afterwards.
IT WAS some sort of a heist that our team – which I jokingly called “Ocean’s 8” –
pulled across the United
States, amidst the spectre of
the dreaded (but largely overrated) A(H1N1) virus, and the
prevalence of a deadlier virus
of hatred and disbelief among
Filipino-Americans on the government of the Philippines,
wittingly or unwittingly carried
and spread by The Filipino
Channel and other media outfits in the US.
Even as the TFC carries
the hugely popular “Wowowie” and other tele-novelas, the
news that it carries about the
Philippines is not at all amusing. Distressing, to say the
least. Everyone in government is corrupt and inefficient.
The Filipino people are restless. Poverty is so wide-
spread. Politicians are scheming. Only the opposition are
saying the truth. Another revolution is in the offing.
The country’s image suffered a bad beating from unrelenting negative media barrage.
This was what probably
prompted President Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo to call me
at a little past 3 in the morning
(RP time) early this year, bidding me en pronto to come to
the US to try to contain the
spread of the virus of hatred and
negativity being cast on the
image of the country. Why
me? It can only because of the
other hat I wear, the original,
in fact – as presidential adviser for external affairs. The Office of External Affairs (OEA),
which I concurrently head, is
doing constituency-building
work. And also because I am
directly involved in infrastructure and social development
work as a member of the cabinet.
After the cobwebs in my
head cleared, and later discerning the meaning and importance of the early-morning-directive of the President, I
scrambled to form a team,
which I later called “Ocean 8,”
because our job called for a

also of OEA, who was our logistics guy; Elmer Cato, a dip-

Julia); Armand C. Arreza, the brilliant and dynamic administrator/
chief executive officer of Subic Bay
Metropolitan Authority, also a good
and trusted friend, and myself. (As
I said, a George Clooney I may not
be, but a few more inches in height
and I will give him a run for his money. He he.)
We prepared hard, though a bit
hastily, ever conscious of the possibility that we would be besieged
with difficult questions and issues.
Such as, on the string of alleged
corruption related issues investigated by the Philippine Senate and
feasted on by the media, among
other negative issues. We have
listed down all the issues that could
be thrown our way, knowing that failure to address any of them properly would doom our mission.
But we were in for a surprise. A
pleasant surprise.
Except in one incident, Fil-Ams
who attended our gigs despite the
threat of the much-feared AH1N1 virus that was declared pandemic by
the World Health Organization were
obviously interested and excited to
hear more of the good news in the
Philippines rather than the bad. In
fact, in one occasion, an accountant who hailed from Floridablanca,
Pampanga who now works in Santa Clara, California, rose to declare
that he cut off his subscription from
TFC because the news treatment
has pissed him off. In another forum, a middle-aged Fil-Am professional delivered an impassioned
speech that he now only watches
Wowowie and no other because the
news features that dwelled so much
on the senate investigations on the
alleged anomalies have angered
him – because of the manner the
senators were obviously riding on
the issues for political mileage and
on how they rudely treat their supposed “resource persons” as if they
were criminals already proven
guilty.
(To his observations we have
added that the reason none of the
high profile cases investigated by
congress, particularly by the Senate, has been resolved and the perpetrators punished, is that the investigations were mostly political
in nature. If these cases have been
brought to court, we explained,
these could have been resolved with
less passion, with the accusers and
accused afforded the opportunity to
confront each other, and the guilty
punished. Those who have been
unjustly accused would also be ab-
solved.)
We have planned to talk to the
media and the Fil-Am communities, because we thought the media would dominate the discussions and would allow little time
for the ordinary Fil-Ams to participate. That one incident I referred
to earlier involved a Chicago-based
Fil-Am reporter who squeezed himself into the forum intended for the
Fil-Am community. He scowled
during the forum that we were
treating the Fil-Ams as undiscerning to the crap we were peddling.
But even before we were able to
respond to him, several people in
the audience rose to rebuke him.
We went there to spread the
good news, travelling across the
country from the East Coast to the
West Coast. We had the data and
even visuals to back up our claims.
And we found out that what we were
saying were actually things that
never reached the knowledge of
most of the Fil-Ams, particularly for
those who have not been home for
the last decade or so. One question asked by a nurse who hasn’t
been home for the last 34 years,
and who is nearing retirement, was
how accessible in terms of distance
are hospitals in Metro Manila. We
told her, one could walk the distance to a hospital in most parts of
Metro Manila.

Bakit di kasama si
Cicer at Edna?
BALAK PA lamang pong ipagawa noon
Ang mga larawan ng naging Governor
Na nakasabit sa ‘lobby’ ng Capitol
Ay ganito na ang ating naitanong:
Sa Tourism Office o kay Mr. Mejia
Kung ‘retouch’ lang bale at isasama na
Sa ipagagawa ang ‘portrait’ ng iba
Na kagaya nina Cicer, Aling Edna,
At iba pang naging Guv na di matukoy
Kung sino ang wala pang litrato roon;
Gaya halimbawa ni Olimpio Guanzon,
At ilang iba pang naupong Governor.
Naitanong ko rin ang bagay na ito
Sa kaibigan nating si Raf Maniago,
Nang magkita kami sa may ‘lobby’ mismo
Ng Capitol minsang mapadaan ako;
Kung sa sampung pinagawa nilang bago
Ay kasama sina Edna at Cicero;
(Na inaasahan kong kasamang piho
Pagkat alam nating naupo pareho).
Sina Edna David at Cicer Punsalan
Na naging Governor din ng lalawigan;
Kahit pa man sila ay di bilang halal,
Pero nagsi-ganap po bilang opisyal?
Na ‘Chief Executive’ si Edna at Cicer
Sa magkahiwalay na panahon o ‘year’;
At pareho mandin pong naging ‘execellent’
Ang performance n’yan sa provincial government!
Si Cicer Punsalan ay di lang umakto
Bilang ‘caretaker’ sa ating Kapitolyo,
Kundi Governor na – nang si Estelito
Ay maging Minister of Justice na ito.
At siyang Solicitor General din noon
(Liban sa iba pang binigay ni Macoy?);
Kaya’t nang lisanin nito ang Capitol
Ay si Cicero na ang naging Governor!
Bise gobernador noon si Punsalan
Kaya’t siya itong tunay na opisyal
Na makakapalit at uupo bilang
‘Legitimate successor’ nitong lumisan.

“It’s sad that Nueva
Ecija is always included in
the list although there had
been no election-related
incidents in the 2007 elections,” Joson said on regional radio dwRW on
Monday. “We have proved
that the elections can be
held peacefully.”
The lone incident that
occurred then was the encounter in Jaen town of
police troops securing local officials. A Punto Central Luzon source in Camp
Olivas called it a case of
“miscoordination,” meaning the troops did not know
each other.
Joson believed the Philippine National Police put
the province on the list
again because of recent
killings.
“It’s because under the
present administration of
Gov. [Aurelio] Umali in the
last two years, the high
profile cases have been
many,” Joson said.
He cited the murder of
a government engineer in
2007 and the killings
thereafter on several incumbent and former
barangay captains, a
board member, the former
vice mayor of Cabiao, the
brother of the mayor of
Pantabangan town.
“In all these killings, the
mastermind has not been
identified,” the former governor said.
“This might be the reason why the police are worried. The relatives of the
victims may fight back to
seek justice,” he added.
In a phone interview,
Umali said the PNP cannot be faulted for classifying Nueva Ecija as an election hotspot.
“Our elections here,
historically, had always
been marred by violence,”
he said.
Without giving details,
Umali said that in the province, “alam ng mga tao
ang nanggugulo at ginugulo (people know who are
causing troubles and who
are being hounded by troubles).”
“The last time I heard
Governor Tommy said that
there should be no violence, Mayor [Honorato]
Perez was killed,” Umali
said adding that the
Josons were suspects in
the murder of the Cabanatuan City official in the
1990s.
“It’s a good thing that
we were placed under the
[Commission on Elections]
control in 2007. I am for an
honest and clean elections
and I would suggest that
the police set up checkpoints in all places so that
I can go out and campaign
even in the remotest areas,” said Umali who is
seeking a relection for a
second term next year.
He said Joson should
“not mislead” Ecijanos
because the “police have
a report on the incidents
and most of the vehicles
and suspects are traced
to a group of trouble-makers.”
Chief Supt. Leon Nilo
de la Cruz, Central Luzon
police director, said Nueva Ecija was back on the
list because it has a “history of violence.”
He said he has not deployed any additional
troops to Nueva Ecija in
recent days.
Zoilo Perlas, regional
director of the Commission
on Elections, said the preliminary list of election
hotspots was for purpose
of monitoring in the runup
to the polls.
“It’s just like a
watchlist. We will know the
situation during the actual
campaign and after the
candidates have filed [their
certificates of candidacies,” Perlas said.

Claro M. Recto Village
Chief Val Lagman said “it’s
the right of Pamintuan to
run for mayor.” But he added that “as head of the
National Housing Authority (NHA), did he help the
people especially the
homeless?
Lagman said he had
committed himself to help
Mamac to become mayor. He added that the Bal-
ibago village chief “had
been focused in helping
his constituents.”
Salapungan Barangay
Captain Robert Yeen said
that “Nepomuceno, Pamintuan and Mamac had
been allies in previous
elections against the Lazatins — now they are running, first woman city
mayor may come thru destiny.” He is an ally of
Cabigting.

Angelenos more options
to choose from. I believe
that most voters are intelligent,” said Cabigting in a

“their choice will be based
on performance and potential rather than pressure or
‘pera’ (money).”
“I have seen it in the
last elections, and it can
happen again because the
voters are even more politically matured now, said

Army uncovers 6 landmines

buried underground.
Each landmine has the
capability of blowing up
large vehicles like M35 6x6
truck being used by the
military or a civilian passenger bus, the military
said.
The landmines weigh
five to seven kilos and were
configured with materials
that cannot be recognized
even by the landmine detectors.
Bautista said the retrieval operation, which
was conducted on July 4
with the aid of Explosive
Ordnance Disposal (EOD)
team and bomb sniffing
dogs, was carried out
based on information fed
by a former NPA rebel.
The military defined
landmines as basically
explosive devices that are
designed to explode when
triggered by pressure or a
tripwire. These devices are
typically found on or just
below the surface of the
ground. The purpose of
mines when used by
armed forces is to disable
any person or vehicle that
comes into contact with it
by an explosion or fragments released at high
speeds.
The CPP/NPA has developed a capability to
manufacture crude homemade landmines, the government security force
stressed.
The rebel returnee divulged that the group
planned to use the landmines against unwary government forces plying
along the stretch of the
Pantabangan-Canili-Baler
national road, a highway
mostly frequented by civilian commuters, said Major Lito Pangatungan, of
the 702nd Brigade.
He added that the last
recorded use of landmines by the CPP-NPA in the
area was in 2002 along
the Pantabangan-CaniliBaler national road.
Incidentally, the use of
landmines is banned by
the United Nations and the
International Community
for its employment will
endanger the lives of innocent civilians.
“Their plan of employing these landmines is a
manifestation that they had
no regard for the value of
human life and the human
rights of every individual,”
Villanueva said.
He added: “These
landmines, once employed, will endanger civilians not party to the
conflict especially those
commuters plying the
Pantabangan-Canili-Baler
highway. Lives of thousands of commuters will
be at risk had these landmines not been discovered by our operating
troops.”

And because this is so, nagdududa tuoy kaming totoong nasa serious stage na ang relasyon kaya naalarma na’ng
ABS-CBN and this mightbe the reason kung bakit pinalabas nila ang statement.
ganito ang nakasaad sa statement: “Lloyd has been a passionate, dedicated and hardworking actor since the age of 14. He has
earned the respect and admiration of his peers and his co-workers through the years and he deserves to have some fun and to enjoy life.
“There is nothing wrong with enjoying the day in the company of a fine young lady like Ruffa, who took the time to show Lloydie
around Beverly where she has a house.
“For all of Lloydie’s many concerned fans and supporters, I assure you, Lloydie is a good, responsible, young adult deserving of your
respect and admiration.
“I’m sure you’d find it in your hearts to allow him to celebrate his own birthday in his own simple and quiet way.
Galing ito sa isang nalaos na starlet who claimed she had a sexual

May niluluto kasing project

“Mr.
media. “As a struggling newman then, I”ve befriended a
lot from the movie press,” sabi niya.
Nakatakdang simulan ang medical mission,
mula ika-10 ng umaga hanggang hapon.
Ang benefit charity show naman, mula
ika-3 hanggang ika-5 ng hapon.
Katuwang na mag-aasikaso
ng team nina ”Kuya” Daniel
Razon at mga kasamahang
doktor sa medical mission
na ito ang mga opisyal at
miyembro ng PMPC. Tinatawagan naman ang
mga residente ng Payatas, Quezon City, na
makiisa o sumuporta at
mag-benefit sa medical/
health care services,
at mag-aliw o makisaya sa gagawing
palabas ng mga
dadalong artista.

the CIAC medical team that
responded to a distress call
that assisted Edward Macarilay, 56 years old, who was
aboard a King Air flight that
landed at the Diosdado
Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) from Caticlan on
May 18.
In his report to Luciano,
ESD Manager Federico
Primero Jr. said his team
responded to a distress call
to assist Macarilay who was
on board a King Air aircraft
8
that landed at DMIA. Macarilay was suffering from a
renal failure and has diabetes.
Primero also said that
his medical team did a job
well done in providing assistance to Macarilay who was
rushed to the Angeles University Foundation Medical
Center upon his arrival at
DMIA.
At the same time, Nida
Cayanan, wife of Edward,
also expressed her gratitude
to the medical team that
helped her husband who is
suffering from a renal failure
and has diabetes.
“Just a simple thanks
and appreciation to the wonderful concern of the medical staff who help (us) my
husband last May 18, the
paramedic did a great job of
providing medical assistance to my husband who
was immediately brought to
the Angeles Medical University Foundation Medical
Center,” Cayanan said.
“I was amazed by the
promptness attention of the
CIAC Medical staff that provided an ambulance to transport my husband to the hospital which saved his life,
and most especially the
kindness that they have extended to us,” she added.
“To all the staff who did a
good job, I am so proud of
you guys. More power and
God bless,” Cayanan said in
an email sent to Luciano.
Luciano said that “This
is the kind of service that
CIAC is committed of providing passengers and airlines. The ESD responded
well in that particular emergency situation and in the
process were able to help a
person in need.”
