SCHOOL OF MUSIC ANNOUNCES 2014/2015 EVENTS
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (9/12/2014)— The U of M School of Music 2014/2015 event highlights include: Lydia
Artymiw & Friends (10/5); The Bob Dylan Big Band Project (10/7); 14th Annual U of M School of Music Collage
Concert (10/18); 53rd Annual Marching Band Indoor Concert (11/18 & 11/22); University Opera Theatre’s
production of Georges Bizet’s La Tragédie de Carmen (11/20-23); Wind Ensemble and University Singers
Women: Susan Botti’s Cosmosis (11/25); and University Opera Theatre’s production of W.A. Mozart’s Le nozze
di Figaro (4/16-19).
Most School of Music events are free, unless otherwise noted, and all events are open to the public. The School of
Music’s Ferguson Hall (2106 4th Street South, Minneapolis, MN 55455), and Ted Mann Concert Hall (2128
Fourth Street South, Minneapolis, MN 55455) are both located on the U of M’s West Bank campus. Convenient
parking is available at the University's 19th Avenue and 21st Avenue parking ramps; you must pay a fee to park
in these ramps.
Established in 1902, the University of Minnesota School of Music offers a dynamic, comprehensive program to
more than 550 music students in undergraduate and graduate programs, led by a world-class faculty of more than
50 artists, scholars and teachers. The School of Music presents more than 400 free concerts per year. For a

14th Annual U of M School of Music Collage Concert

The annual School of Music Collage Concert features more than 300 students and faculty in a non-stop concert
showcase of all that the School of Music has to offer – including performances by choral, orchestral, jazz,
chamber, world music, and wind ensembles as well as solo performances.

Internationally acclaimed guest and founder of the New Sousa Band, Keith Brion conducts the Wind Ensemble.
Brion has published band music by Charles Ives, Percy Grainger, John Philip Sousa, and more. He is currently
recording the complete music of Sousa for Naxos Records with London’s Royal Artillery Band.

Guest composer and soloist Susan Botti will join the Wind Ensemble (Craig Kirchhoff, conductor) and University
Singers Women (Matthew Mehaffey, conductor) for a performance of Cosmosis, for wind ensemble, solo
