ENROLLMENT INTO THE UT WEBSITE (IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNT)

Log onto
https://quest.cns.utexas.edu

Click on the Log in to Quest at
the top-right side of the screen.

Click on I need a UT EID under
the red “LOG IN” circle
Click the Continue box.
5.
Choose all No’s and click on Continue.
6.
Fill in your personal info and click on Continue.
7.
Your user ID will be given to you on this screen. WRITE THIS
DOWN!! You cannot change it. It will most probably include
your initials and an arbitrary number. Place this information
in your agenda book, cell phone, or other place for
important info!
ENROLLING IN A COURSE ON THE UT WEBSITE (IF/ONCE YOU HAVE AN ACCOUNT)
Once you have a user id and password:
1.
Go back to https://quest.cns.utexas.edu and login using your user ID (UT EID) and
password.
2.
On the new page, click on Enroll in New Course. (on the left side of the screen)
3.
Type in the unique number of your course which is: API-15
4.
If “AP PHYS I(S)” shows up under the “Courses found” click on Request Enrollment.
5.
Your enrollment information will be sent to your instructor for approval. Your instructor
must approve your request before you can proceed to work on assignments in the course.

III. ASSIGNMENTS

To view your assignment for a given course, click on a course title. On the screen, you’ll see
your list of assignments, the due dates, as well as your current scores (%) and the class
average for each assignment.

To view an assignment, click on the assignment name.

You can set the zoom level of the PDF file on the left as well as open and print the
assignment if you wish. To submit answers to questions, find the question # in the My
Answers table, select or fill in your answer and click on the Submit link. The Points earned
column will update to show the # of points you’ve earned and you’ll receive feedback on
the correctness of your answer.

DUE DATE TIMES: All assignment due date times are in Central Standard Time (CST).
IV. VIEWING SOLUTIONS

If your instructor has opted to show solutions, you can view them by viewing your
assignment. Once solutions are available, (your instructor determines the date that they are
viewable) the assignment PDF will show questions as well as solutions.
V. ENTERING NUMBERS

Numeric Input:
On "numeric" questions, you input ONE NUMBER -- integer, decimal or scientific notation. Do
not use Fractions, include commas or spaces in numeric answers.

Scientific Notation: If you need to use scientific notation for a number, write it in terms of
what you see on your calculator screen: 3.56e-10 or -4.5234e+01

Ignore Significant digits when entering numeric answers: When entering numeric answers
carry out all calculations to at least four significant digits (except for zeros). Do not round off
intermediate calculations or your final answer. The only time where you might be required to
input exact sig dig is when you are working on sig dig problems in the first assignment.

Grading: The UTEXAS online program begins deducting points if the first answer is incorrect.
To reduce these negative effects on grades, students can earn full credit for the following
situations:
o Student submits the correct answer by the third attempt on an open answer question.
o Student submits a correct answer by the second attempt on a multiple-choice question that
has 5 or less answer options. (With the exception of MC questions that have 2 options)
o Student submits a correct answer by the third attempt on a multiple-choice question that has 6
or more answer options.
