This chapter explores art of the 1700’s and early 1800’s in Europe and North America, including painting, architecture, decorative arts, and sculpture. Some trends of this era include the intellectual philosophy known as The Enlightenment, with emphasis on the artistic movements of Rococo, Neoclassicism, Romanticism and Gothic Revival.
