THE HANDOUT
SEPTEMBER 1, 2013 | ALL THE LATEST HAPPENINGS AT ENGEDI CHURCH
NEW HERE? WELCOME!
We’re a community of people from different
backgrounds who are just trying to figure out what it
means to follow Jesus today. If you’re new here and
want to know more about us, we’d love to talk with you.
Just fill out the form on back, put it in the drop boxes
by the doors and we’ll be in touch.
OUR CABLE PRACTICES
The five practices below serve as guidelines for a way of life
that best helps us live in and share the kingdom of God.
îî Care for the poor and the vulnerable.
îî Acknowledge our journey with one another.
îî Bless our world with contagious love and grace.
îî Listen for God’s voice and learn from His Word.
îî Eat with others outside our normal social circle.
THE STORY FORMED WAY
9 Wednesdays starting September 25
We all love a good story. Stories captivate our attention
and reveal truths that we may otherwise have missed.
Just as stories are filled with excitement, conflict and new
discoveries, our lives are also stories. As we live out our
own stories, we may wonder how it fits within the larger
story; God’s Story. Beginning Wednesday, September 25,
from 7–8:30pm we’ll begin a new chapter together called
Story Formed Way. Over this 10 week journey, through
interaction, questions and dialogue, we will take a fresh
look at some of the stories found in the Scriptures and
allow them to shape our lives For information, contact
Mary at mary@engedichurch.com for questions or RSVP at
engedichurch.com/storyformedway.

CHICAGO IMMERSION TRIP
Saturday October 12-Tuesday October 15
Are you a college student burdened by the injustice of human trafficking? Have
you been praying to God for your next steps? During the Hope College Fall Break,
Elevate will offer our first immersion trip to Chicago. We’ll hear the stories of
victims of human trafficking. We’ll talk with folks who are active in fighting
against human trafficking in downtown Chicago as we ask the question, “what can
I do to help?”. Contact Jeff at jeff@engedichurch.com for more information.
SMILE!
Do you love smiling? Think you’re pretty good at shaking hands? If yes, you should join
the greeting team! As we move into the new building (September 29), we need your
help to make others feel welcomed. Greeters serve about once a month. Contact Piper at
308.0336 or laynieK1@yahoo.com.
Engedi is co-sponsoring a refugee family from Burma relocating to the
Holland area this week. This family of four adults and four children (boys aged
17–1) will move into an unfurnished apartment. If you have any gently used
household items or furnishings to donate to this family, please contact Amy at
amy.vreeman@gmail.com for a complete listing of items needed.
