standards activities of the Society. The SSC
shall be composed of a chair, vice chair, and
up to five (5) members-at-large . These SSC
members, who shall be ANS members, are
appointed by the President of the Society.
They shall have substantial interest and
experience in the development and use of
standards for the application of nuclear
science and engineering. These appointed
members shall serve a three (3) year term,
with the terms of approximately one third (1/3)
of the members expiring at the close of each
Annual Meeting. An Administrative Secretary
of the SSC, appointed by the Executive
Director, shall be responsible for the
administration of the standards activities of the
Society.
Under the supervision and control of the SSC,
a standards committee conducts all aspects of
standards activities and interests within the
Society and represents the SSC in activities
with other organizations engaged in similar
work . The standards committee is composed
of all persons engaged in standards
development for the Society. The chair and
vice chair of the SSC shall be the officers of
the standards committee.
There are also consensus committees
established within the standards committee
under the SSC to develop and ensure
consensus as a basis for approval of proposed
