Logo Design Project 3
Commercial Art 1
Now that you have had some experience making logos for your initials and a
variety of objects, it is time to create a logo for a client.
Your Client- A co-curricular club or sports team.
Your Task- To create a logo that identifies, describes, and promotes your client.
It should engage the viewer and evoke the spirit, purpose or attitude of your
client.
Step 1: Choose a client.
Step 2: Write down a list of words or sentences (purpose statement) for your
client.
Step 3: Narrow your focus to a few of the strongest terms from step 2, and begin
to brainstorm ideas for these.
Step 4: Sketch these ideas. Think about how the words can be visualized, and
begin drawing them in your sketchbook. You should have a minimum of 12
sketched ideas.
Use The Elements of Logo Design, and The 10 Criteria for Development of a
Successful Logo to aid you as you sketch/brainstorm, think creativity and
make decisions.
Step 5: Choose 5 different sketches to develop to a more finished state on the
computer. Show them to Mr. Spoelstra again for approval/suggestions.
Step 6: Choose 3 of the 5 that were done on the computer with the aid of other
people’s opinions (classmates, teacher, etc.)
Step 7: Develop the 3 logos to a completed state, for use in the following
situations:
Copier- black and white
