binax: Outperforming normal hearing –
with minimum power consumption.
In order to emulate natural binaural listening, we first
need to link the two hearing instruments, just like the
brain uses input from both ears. Building upon the original
e2e technology, which won the prestigious German
Future Award in 2012, e2e wireless™ 3.0 enables
exchange of audio signals between two hearing
instruments.
This virtual eight-microphone network provides a
heightened sensitivity of the acoustic environment: We
call this “High Definition Sound Resolution” or HDSR. HDSR
is the basis for the binax features that offer an exceptional
binaural listening experience. In fact, HDSR is so powerful
that binax hearing instruments are clinically proven to
allow wearers to hear in cocktail-party like situations even
better than their normal hearing counterparts.*
As a result, the hearing instruments not only use the
information picked up by their own two microphones, but
also the acoustic signal from the two microphones of the
other hearing aid. This way, each hearing instrument
works with input from four microphones. So together as a
bilateral pair, these hearing aids create a virtual
eight-microphone network.
What’s more, this outstanding hearing technology is
incredibly energy efficient. While providing outstanding
HDSR, the revolutionary e2e wireless 3.0 technology
requires just 1.6 mA with all binaural features active.

* Two clinical studies have shown that binax provides better than normal hearing in certain
demanding environments (University of Northern Colorado, 2014; Oldenburg Hörzentrum,
2013): Speech Reception Thresholds (SRT) in cocktail-party situations improved up to 2.9 dB
for wearers with mild to moderate hearing loss using Carat binax or Pure binax hearing aids
with narrow directionality, compared to people with normal hearing.
