OLV MUSIC NEWSLETTER OLV Music Newsletter 2/3/2015 4 TH GRADE SINGING AT SETON HIGH SCHOOL WINTER QUARTER – WEEK 2 What students are learning Mrs. Lauren Neely, Grades 1-3 st 1 Grade: working hard on singing and notating Sol-Mi patterns on the staff, as well as identifying patterns and same/different in pieces of music we listen and move to. They are also beginning work on their musical that will be performed in May! nd 2 Grade: the Second Grade concert, A Perfect Winter Day, is coming together! The students are practicing their pieces and are anxious to perform on Wednesday, February th 11 . Please remember to dress in blue, silver, and/or white and arrive to the auditorium at 6:50 pm for the 7:00 performance. Ask your children for a preview concert at home! rd 3 Grade: Third grade is practicing playing and composing patterns with Sol, La, and Mi on their recorders. Soon, we will add note names and another note or two! We are also learning about sixteenth notes and the canon form in music. Some classes have also started working on pieces for their Imaginary Travels performance in March; be on the lookout for more information to come home soon about this!
