RESEARCH PROJECTS • Compressed Sensing and Sparse Approximation over Infinite Dictionaries: Introduced Newtonized Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (NOMP) algorithm, which generalizes the well-known OMP algorithm to a continuously parametrized overcomplete basis using Newton refinements. For the fundamental problem of estimating gains and frequencies from a mixture of sinusoids, we have shown that NOMP algorithm closely approaches fundamental estimation-theoretic limits, while maintaining low computational complexity. • Line-of-Sight MIMO Communication Systems: Designing low-power information-preserving front ends for mm-wave communication. Deploying dynamically adaptive analog front-ends enabling efficient and scalable implementation while preserving capacity and channel rank. • Millimeter Wave Radar Imaging systems with commercial, medical, and human gesture recognition applications: introduced spatial aggregation technique to address the grating lobe issue of sparse monostatic arrays, targeting applications such as data collection in low-cost portable handheld devices. Spatial aggregation replaces the point scatterer primitive by a different set of basis functions, more suited for short-range imaging. • Multiple Access Channel with peak power constraints: On the optimality of discrete probability distributions for achieving any point on the boundary of the capacity region, as well as sub-optimality of orthogonal signalling.
