Product range and benefits
Soft Seated Butterfly Valve
DN40 to DN300
Extended life span
This butterfly valve has a unique wave line rubber seat and a special disc
shape, enhancing the life span of the valve and sealing.
Type 2232 Wafer
Dimensions
Reduced torque
Due to the unique wave line rubber-seat and disc shape, the butterfly valve
has a low breakaway torque.
DN40 - DN300
DN350 - DN600
On request
DN700 - 2200
One of a kind
It is the only butterfly valve in the world constructed with a bushing inside the
disc - resulting in lower torque, lower friction, 100% tight shut-off function
and a very long service.
Seat construction
On the Wafer type the seat is vulcanized onto a phenol back-up ring. The seat
is replaceable.
Wafer-valve multi-standard alignment holes suitable for different flanges:
DN40 - DN300 wafer type:
EN1092 PN10, PN16
ANSI150
BS10 TABLE D, TABLE E, JIS 10K, 16K.
DN350 - DN600 wafer type:

Seat construction
On the LUG type the seat is vulcanized onto a phenol back-up ring. The seat
is replaceable. Due to the specially designed body, the valve can be used as
“end of line” valve (uni-directional).
LUG-valve alignment holes suitable for specific mounting flanges:
DN40 - DN150 lug type:
EN1092 PN10 or PN16 or ANSI150.
DN200 - DN600 lug type:
EN1092 PN10 or ANSI150.

Construction DN40 - DN300 Wafer & Lug type
GGG40 is standard - 3 layer coating EPOXY/EPOXY/PUR, 160 µ.
Body
Types: Wafer and LUG
Wafer has multi-standard alignment holes suitable for mounting flanges:
DN40 - DN300 wafer type:
EN1092 PN10, PN16 - ANSI150 - BS10 TABLE D, TABLE E, JIS 10K, 16K.
DN350 - DN600 wafer type:
EN1092 PN10, PN16 - ANSI150 - BS10 TABLE D.
LUG has fixed threaded holes suitable for specific flanges:
DN40 - DN150 lug type:
EN1092 PN10 or PN16 or ANSI150.
DN200 - DN600 lug type:
EN1092 PN10 or PN 16 or ANSI150.
Mounting bolts lug: PN = Metric and ANSI = UNC
ISO 5211 top flange according to valve torque.
Relief track on the ISO top mounting flange.
A unique dynamic wave line rubber seat provides a highly efficient seal.
Seat
Reduced torque making automation very price competitive.
Extended sealing life span.
On the Wafer and Lug type the seat is vulcanized to a phenolic back-up ring
- a replaceable construction.
Simple seat replacement.
100% tightness at full differential pressure (PN16 = 16 bar from DN40 DN150, PN10 = 10 bar from DN200 - DN600).
Ideal for full vacuum applications.
Trouble-free mounting between flanges.
Disc with two-piece shaft construction which enhances the Kv-value of the
valve and reduces turbulence.
Disc
The shape and finishing of the edge of the disc, provides the lowest possible
operating torque with bubble-tight shut off, even at maximum operating pressure, thus extending the life span of the valve.

Construction DN40 - DN300 Wafer & Lug type
Shaft / bearings
Square stem.
PTFE bearing ensures perfect turning and centric positioning of the stem.
The sleeve bearing provides excellent support, where actuators are used for
automation purposes.
Unique bottom bearing
The bottom PTFE/Graphite bearing is one of a kind - it is placed inside the
disc, where it is actually needed.
Usually there would be a bearing in the bottom of the body - which means a
rotating shaft that transmits the forces put onto the disc down to the bearing.
The result is a displacement of the forces and this is prevented by the unique
bottom bearing - giving the valve a longer and trouble-free life span.
Long shafts for transmitting force are more vulnerable to excessive torsion
than short shafts.
V-type ring and end cover
The V-ring provides a secondary seal which prevents leakage to the stem.
The V-ring also provides a weather seal.
The end cover is sealed at the bottom with a threaded plug.
The end cover has an anti-dust O-ring.

Valve Sizing
Determining the size of butterfly valves for control purposes should not be done on the basis of the nominal diameter of the pipe but should be calculated on the basis of the operating characteristics in order to attain the correct
control characteristics.
Butterfly valves Type 2232 / Type 2242 from Dansk Ventil Center are designed with approximately equal percentage
characteristics over an opening angle of 65°.
You only need to consider the opening angle when determining the size of control valves. When determining the
valve nominal diameter calculate the Kv value from the below formula:

Rubber liners (NBR, EPDM-HT and FPM):
Rubber will over time loose flexibility and compression set. The
higher the temperature rubber is installed in, the shorter the
expected lifespan is. Our values for temperature is given to the
best of our knowledge, and we advice that valves are tested
for lifespan if installation is running near the given temperature
limit. If in doubt, please consult us.

Installation guide
Check that the specifications on the identification plate meet the requirements regarding pressure, temperature and media.
Installation guide for
Butterfly Valves
The piping must have a straight line and the flanges have to be parallel.
Furthermore there must be a distance between the flanges, corresponding
to the face-to-face dimensions of the butterfly valve.
The butterfly valve can be mounted in any direction. However if there are
a lot of dirt particles on the bottom of the pipe, it will be suitable to mount
the stem of the butterfly valve horizontally. This will protect the pivot point
of the disc.
Before commissioning, the pipe work has to be rinsed out to remove dirt
and remnants of welding material, to avoid damage on the liner. During the
rinsing procedure, the butterfly valve has to be positioned as open and may
not be operated, before the rinsing has been completed.
Welding operations may not be performed nearby the butterfly valve, as
welding drops can damage the liner.
Do not use gaskets. The liner works as sealing to the atmosphere.
Where vacuum, high flow rate or water hammering can occur, flanges without a loose collar should be used, to obtain the best conditions.
Check that the flange covers
the area of the liner.
Afterwards tighten the bolts
on the flange by hand.
Carefully place the butterfly valve between the
flanges, with the disc in
closed position.
2242 LUG, used as an “end of line” valve:
Please notice that the valve is uni-directional.
Though the valves are constructed
to work as shown on the right,
counter clockwise rotation - CCW
- they can be reversed without
problems. Please consider that the
torque in this case will increase.
As the butterfly valves are
equipped with the unique wave
shaped liner, the operation of the
valves, either free stem, handle or
gear operated, has to follow the
guidelines as shown below.
A small triangular shaped figure is
placed on the liner - this triangle
indicates which way the disc has to
enter the liner.
Generally spoken the disc has to
close clockwise - CW - in order to
have the lowest possible torque and thus the longest possible life
time.
14
An
Carefully open and close the
valve to check that the disc
centralizes and the disc does not
touch the flange. With the disc
in the open position, tighten
crosswise with a wrench.

The pinion is high-precision and integrative, made from nickel-alloy steel.
Pre-loaded, coated high performance springs are made from corrosion resistance material (only Type 5051 - Spring Return Actuators).
Two independent external travel stop adjustment bolts can easily and precisely be adjusted +/- 5% at both open and close directions.
Bearings and guides made from low friction, long life compound material to
avoid direct contact between metals.
NBR O-rings provide trouble-free operation at standard temperature ranges.
For low and high temperatures FPM and Silicone are used.
