Presidential Parallels The topic I am writing on is the Presidential Parallels. This is an opinion only. A few of our presidents have made mistakes when they were in office. I will be talking about President Bush, Nix, and George H. W. Bush. President Johnson was in office for the first four years of the Vietnam War, then President Nixon for the rest of the war. President Nixon could and should have pulled U.S. troops out of Vietnam. President Nixon could have declared war on Vietnam so that the troops could have gone on the offense instead of staying on the defense position. Congress refused to allow the American military to take the necessary position to win the war. Terrorist attacked the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001 during President Bush’s first term. Bush attacked Iraq, then tried to find the weapons of mass destruction. He stayed to help the Iraqis form a new government. President Bush should have left or pulled out of Iraq. President George H.W. Bush had made mistakes while he was in office. He sent five hundred thousand troops to Saudi Arabia to help liberate Kuwait. Israeli secret agents discovered that Hussein was close to developing an atomic bomb, told Bush who convinced the United Nations to send troops to liberate Kuwait and protect the other Arab nations. The bad things these presidents have done are out weighed by the good things they have done. President Nixon was protecting the American political parties over seas in Vietnam. President George H.W. Bush was looking out for the American well being on gasoline and oil. President George H.W. Bush placed General Colin Powell as second in command of the military only to the President. George W. Bush sent troops to Iraq to protect the oil industries for American people.
