Act I:
 Character’s Overall Want/Need and Why
William Wallace is forced at a very young age to understand the
corruption of the English Crown’s rule over Scotland, Wallace’s
native country.
This is done when Wallace’s brother and father
die in battle fighting against the dishonest English army over
Scotland’s nobility found hung in a local Scottish town; a
creation of desire for freedom and justice from the English
Crown is thus created in Wallace.
 Character Logically Goes For It
Now an adult, Wallace first seeks freedom and justice from the
English Crown when he defies English law by secretly marrying a
lover named Murron he had met as a child many years ago.
The
law states that English Lords have the right to sleep with
brides on their wedding night, and Wallace actively disobeys the
law in order to protect his wife from getting raped.
Act II:
 Character is Denied
Because of Wallace and Murron’s disobedience to the English
Crown, English Guards attempt to fulfill the unjust law by
trying to rape Murron, but they are stopped by Wallace who

begins an enormous fight with the all of the English Guards.
By
the end of the fight all of the English Guards are dead but
Wallace is unable to save Murron from being unjustly murdered by
an English Lord.
 Character Gets Second Opportunity To Achieve Overall Want
Because of Wallace’s bravery and skill against the English
Guards, local townsmen with the same desires for freedom and
justice look to Wallace as a leader in Scotland’s fight against
the English Crown.
Rumors are spread throughout Scotland and
townsmen from as far as Ireland band together as an army willing
to fight with Wallace to declare Scotland’s freedom from
England.
 Conflicts About Taking Advantage of Second Opportunity
A criminal to the English thrown, Wallace is now wanted by King
Edwards I, Longshanks of England who wants nothing more than to
kill Wallace and put down his Scottish rebellion.
Longshanks
will use any and all of England’s resources to find and massacre
Wallace and his men. Wallace must choose between a life destined
to death or a life on the run.
 Character Decides To Go For It
Wallace further expands his Scottish militia by moving from
Scottish city to city killing all Englishmen inside, and
eventually finds himself in Sterling facing off against an
entire English regiment of troops sent by Longshanks himself.
 All Goes Well
Wallace not only beats the highly advantaged English troops in
his own country at the Battle of Sterling, he goes on to march
his army into England to takeover York, a strategic English
military post.
Wallace is on an incredible winning streak

defying all odds against the English army and recruiting more
and more Scottish militia with every win.
 All Falls Apart
Scottish nobles who would end up being prominent government
leaders in the new Scottish government promise Wallace and his
army support in the biggest battle yet at Falkirk.
In mid
battle they betray Wallace by abandoning him and his army
because they were mischievously paid off by Longshanks.
The
English army wins the battle and Wallace is barely saved from
death.
Act III:
 Crisis & Climax
Wallace arranges to meet with the presumed new king of Scotland
Robert the Bruce to discuss the Battle of Falkirk and the fate
of the rebellion against England.
Due to a betrayal by Robert
the Bruce’s father and mentor the secret meeting is broken up by
English Guards who capture Wallace with the intention to murder
him.
Wallace is sentenced to death because of his crimes against the
English Crown, and he is publically tortured for refusing to
kneel down as a loyal subject of the English Crown.
Wallace
conjures up abnormal amounts of strength to withstand the
gruesome torture performed on him, and in his last breath he
screams ‘FREEDOM’ as clutches his dead wife’s cloth.
 Truth Comes Out to Make Things Right
Wallace’s epic display of rebellion towards the English Crown,
his courage, bravery, and his desire for freedom and justice for
Scotland acted as a catalyst of inspiration for the Scottish
townspeople.
After Wallace’s death Robert the Bruce leads these

freedom.
