Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is a disorder which is identified as the transition
phase between cognitive decline as the part of aging process and dementia. This disorder
affects cognitive functions, especially memory function. MCI can be differentiated with
dementia by the characteristic of activity daily living. Patients with MCI have no difficulty in
conducting activity of daily living, but patients with dementia have. Somatic, neurologic, and
psychiatric disorders affecting normal brain functions can also cause MCI. One of the
medical condition causing MCI is depression, even until today this relationship is still
controversial. Laboratory investigations need to be conducted to eliminate other medical
conditions that probably cause cognitive disorders. Although had been reported as usefull
diagnostic tool to know the conversion of MCI to dementia, Brain imaging is not routinely
used. Eventhough the current randomized controlled trials about the treatments are relatively
minimal, some modalities of treatment which are potentially used can be applicated. This
case report presented a case of patient with mild cognitive impairment with depression as the
causal factor.
