WENDY’S DAVE THOMAS LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE Wendy’s Dave Thomas Legacy Scholarship Criteria 1. "Do the Right Thing" – This legacy theme grew from Dave Thomas’ passion to live his life with honesty and integrity. He would often say, "Honesty isn’t just a suggestion." Dave believed that you earn your reputation by the things you do every day. He thought people should be true to their word. 2. "Treat People with Respect" – Dave loved the restaurant business because he loved being around people. Dave treated everyone with respect. He looked each person he met squarely in the eye and listened intently while people talked to him. Dave lived by the golden rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated, but he said it a simpler way: JUST BE NICE! 3. "Giving Back" – Dave believed that with success came an obligation to share it. He encouraged the Wendy’s family to support the communities that support Wendy’s. Be the best role model you can be – someone is always watching. Summary: The Wendy’s Dave Thomas Legacy Award recipient should display personal characteristics of each of the criteria listed above.
