Conference Agenda
This year, we are pleased to welcome the internationally recognized, dynamic speakers Tony Crow, Dr. Steve Roberts, Dr.
Tim Ludwig and Dr. E. Scott Geller. And, as usual, we will have presentations from other SPS team members, opportunities
for networking with other PBS team members as well as safety professionals, and sessions for benchmarking. The preliminary
agenda includes numerous concurrent sessions, including: Improving Safety Culture, The Basics of People Based Safety,
Introduction to Safety Culture Assessment, and various Case Studies presented by members of the SPS community. We will
also be holding an “Ask Dr. G” session which features an open-ended Q&A discussion with Dr. Geller. Registrants will receive
a copy of the final agenda closer to the conference date.
Dr. Steve Roberts (www.safetyperformance.com): Steve is co-founder and senior partner at Safety
Performance Solutions. Steve has published articles in a number of peer reviewed academic journals
and is a regular speaker at both public and corporate sponsored events. He has taught the American
Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Seminarfest course “People-Based Safety” each year since 2006.
Dr. E. Scott Geller (www.safetyperformance.com): In addition to being a founding
partner and co-owner of Safety Performance Solutions, Dr. E. Scott Geller is a
distinguished professor at Virginia Tech where he has taught and conducted
applied/experimental research for more than four decades in The Department of Psychology. In this capacity,
he has authored more than 350 research articles and over 75 books or chapters addressing the development
and evaluation of behavior-change interventions to improve quality of life.
Tony Crow (http://www.injam1.com): Tony provides a motivational, true-life experience of how LIFE can
change in the blink of an eye. Tony uses humor and real-life stories to share how he is living as a blind
person in a sighted world. Hear how he feels blessed to be alive as he shares his message of Triumph over
Tragedy!
Dr. Tim Ludwig (www.safetyperformance.com): Tim earned his Ph.D. at Virginia Tech
and has over 20 years safety consulting and research experience. In addition to being a
project manager with SPS, Dr. Ludwig is a full professor at Appalachian State University.
His popular website Safety-Doc.com is a content-rich resource of safety culture stories, blogs, research,
videos, and services. Dr. Ludwig was cited in Industrial Safety and Hygiene News (ISHN) 2012 “Power 101”
Leaders in the Safety and Health World. Dr. Ludwig serves on the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies’
Behavioral Safety Accreditation Board that reviews best-in-industry safety practices and offers independent,
