JOB ANNOUNCEMENT New Directions for Youth, Inc. 7315 Lankershim Blvd. North Hollywood, CA 91605 - 818-503-6330 ph - 818-982-7019 fax Applications accepted until January 10th, 2013 Job Title: Program Director Reports to: Executive Director Grade: $45,000 annually Hours: Salaried position that requires evening and weekend work as requested Positions Supervised: Strategy Team Leaders/Family Advocates, Case Managers, Program Coordinator, Family Facilitators Purpose of Position: To manage the day to day operations of the Gang Reduction and Youth Development Program (GRYD) in the Panorama City/Mission area for New Directions for Youth. Management to include administrative duties, supervision as well as direct program services (counseling, family meetings or other duties as requested by supervisor). Primary Responsibilities: Staff Supervision: Must supervise staff to ensure compliance with NDY policies and procedures, contract requirements and supervisor expectations. This includes but is not limited to: Participation in the hiring process for new staff in coordination with Human Resources and with the approval of Executive Director. Implement the appropriate orientation and training for staff as necessary in coordination with Human Resources. Assign duties to employees, explaining how and when those duties are to be completed, including what level of performance will meet expectations. Evaluate employee performance and communicate how the successful performance of those duties will be measured. Review time sheets, time-off requests and submit to Human Resources in a timely manner. Resolve employee complaints by implementing conflict resolution and mediation skills. Develop, mentor and provide career coaching to staff while establishing an effective team. Grant Monitoring: Ensure satisfactory achievement of all goals and objectives of NDY grant program by coordinating with City of Los Angeles staff to ensure that all documentation, program implementation requirements and outcomes are successfully achieved. This includes but is not limited to: Conduct outreach to ensure enrollment requirements are met for the GRYD program or other program as necessary. Conduct and ensure that staff implement YSET assessments accurately and appropriately to meet program requirements. Develop and manage program implementation to ensure that youth and families progress appropriately through phases of the GRYD Model. Conduct and ensure that staff implement family strength-based genograms as required by the program. Ensure that all program activities are conducted in accordance with the required work plan. Ensure that grant records and files are appropriately set-up and maintained. Grant Development: Develop new program ideas and build grantor relationships as necessary to increase funding for NDY gang prevention and intervention programs. Research, write and submit grant applications related to gang prevention and intervention activities as requested. School Liaison: Identify local schools that would benefit from participation in NDY programs and maintain regular interaction and consultation with school leadership. Community Advocate: Represent NDY in all community meetings as requested, to include but not be limited to, neighborhood council meetings and the San Fernando Valley Coalition on Gangs. Leadership Responsibilities: Participate as a member of the management team. Duties include: Lead all-staff meetings as requested; attend NDY Board of Directors meetings as requested; strategize with team regarding quality improvement, staff development and growth; promote agency development and growth and act as a role model for all staff in a way that reflects positively and in the best interest NDY at all times. Other duties as requested: The Program Director will be required to conduct other duties as requested by his/her supervisor that may include administrative duties for the agency, direct services, fundraising events or activities as needed. Skills & Qualifications: Completion of a Bachelors Degree in social work or a related field is required. Completion of a Masters Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or other related filed is preferred. A license in Marriage and Family Therapy or a License in Clinical Social Work is a plus. At least 5 years experience supervising a program of similar size and scope to the Gang Reduction Youth Development program is required. Strong organizational, time management, written and oral communication skills is required. Computer literate with a working understanding of social media is necessary. Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus. Meet agency requirements for drug screening, background investigation and verified right to work in the United States required. Staff will be required to get acquire and maintain a Class “B” license within 1st 90 days of employment. Must have 1st Aid/CPR certifications within 1st 90 days of employment.
