MODERNISM/IMAGIST POETRY PROJECT DUE DATE: MONDAY, MAY 19, 2014 When we read poems by some of our Modernist/Imagist poets, pictures appear in our minds. Not only do the poets allow us to develop mental pictures, they address all of our senses. We see colors, we smell scents, we feel textures, and we hear sounds. YOUR ASSIGNMENT: Find five songs to represent five of the poems that we have read in class. The song has to relate to the image that the poem creates in your mind. You will also have to be able to explain how your song relates to the poem. One cd jacket: Each page of the jacket has a paragraph explanation (5-6 sentences) of how the song relates to your poem. Include the following: The artist The song title (song titles are in quotation marks) What image the song describes What senses the song addresses What elements of modernism are present in the song Why you chose the song One cd jacket cover: The front cover of the jacket should illustrate the image that the song/ poem portrays. The back cover of the jacket should list the songs on your cd in the order that they are played. OPTION TWO: - One book of song lyrics: Choose your five songs and find the lyrics to the songs.
